Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued by some people that the main environmental issue is to loss of particular animals and plants. Meanwhile, other believes that there are some more important environmental issues. However, I believe that the main reason of environmental issues is to loss of special plants and animals.
On the one hand, supporters of the argument that main reason of environmental isuues is loss of plants and animals believes that there are some special plants and animals that can play vital role to protect our environment. As by photosythasis process plants can absorb carbon dioxide from the air, which can help humen by giving a natural environment. Take an example of Nepal, it is expected that by year 2028, Nepal will use artificial plants and animals to protect the environment. Thus, the supporters proved that plants and animals play a vital role to protect environment.
On the other hand, advocates of the view that there are some more problems that can harm environment believes that there are some more issues that can harmful for our environment. As chloroflourocarbons that is the major reason of environmental problems, which can released by the humen. For instance, a survey conducted in Australia, which concluded that 78% of environmental problems was created by humen activities. Hence, the supporters with valid arguments proves that there are some more reasons to damage environment.
However, I believe that loss of plants and animals are the major issue of environmental problems. As plants and animals can reduce noise pollution, air pollution and water pollution and protect the environment.
To sum up, although the first argument also have valid arguments, I believe that loss of plants and animals are the major issue of environmental problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on environmental problems and providing an opinion. However, the ideas are limited and under-developed, placing the response at this level. For instance, the discussion regarding plants absorbing carbon dioxide is introduced but not thoroughly explained, and the example regarding Nepal using artificial plants by 2028 is unusual and lacks clarity. Similarly, the points about chlorofluorocarbons and human activities are mentioned superficially without deeper elaboration. A clearer progression of supported ideas and more realistic, well-reasoned examples are needed to move to a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, using standard transition phrases such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To sum up'. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and repetitive, particularly in how arguments are introduced using formulaic phrases like 'supporters of the argument that... believes that...'. Referencing and logical progression are visible, but the overuse of repetitive templates prevents the essay from achieving a more fluid organization. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, two body paragraphs, opposing views, and conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There is noticeable repetition of basic terms throughout the essay, such as 'environmental problems', 'plants and animals', and 'humen'. Furthermore, there are multiple errors in word form, spelling, and word choice that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'to loss' instead of 'the loss', 'isuues' instead of 'issues', 'photosythasis' instead of 'photosynthesis', and 'humen' instead of 'humans'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, but inaccurate collocations and persistent spelling mistakes constrain the lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('other believes', 'animals believes'), incorrect infinitive and gerund usage ('is to loss'), and awkward prepositional phrases. Punctuation is generally manageable, but frequent structural errors in basic and complex sentences alike can cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, the student needs to focus on mastering basic sentence structures, verb forms, and agreement rules before attempting more complex patterns.
