Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people contend that main enviromental problem in this contemporary era is the extinction of particular species and animal, whereas others argue that there are myraid of other crucial enviromental problems. So, I have disscussed both the schools of thought and deduced my opinion in the ensuing sub division.

On the one hand, the first and foremost reason is that particular species of plants and animal plays a vital role in biosphere, human walfare and in maintaining the food chains or food web. The most inseprable part of our life is plants and animals which is sometimes subjected to our food.Plants provide a variety of products to human beings such as fruits of the rare speices of kiwi and mulberry in the simillar way animals are also the food source of humans sych as fish and milk of gir cow. Some animals plays a role in human welfare such as the first dosage of majority of vaccine and medicines are used on the mouse and pigs after that it is used on human and than procced to markets. another crucial role that rare species of animal such as snow leopard and bengal tiger can boost tourism in that nation and consequently, increasing in tourism can thrive the economy of a country. The contribution in biosphere is notable that animals are envolved in nutrient cycling and decomposition of the dead body such as hummingbird it is the only bird which is involved in nutrient cycling and vultures which are known as the natural cleaner of the land. Consequently extinction of animals and plant speices can not only affect the enviroment and arise problems but also affect harshly to human life and other animals too.

On the other hand, apart from species extinction the major and hazardous enviromental problem is proliferation of pollution day by day in urabn as well as rular areas. Problems are arising from all sort of pollution such as land and water pollution by industrial waste disposal on agricultural land and disposal of toxic waste material in water, decreasing the amount of drinking water. Among all sorts of pollution the major and ardous is the land pollution because it directly affect the overall health of humans and animals and food production efficiency of a land. Disposing waste by industries and muncipalty on land can eventually result in losening of the fertility and yeild of the field. As a result, pollution can eventually harm the public health and food production and can arise a scarcity of drinking water.

To conclude, I believe that particular speices conservation is the major factor because the problem of pollution can be mitigated by human itself by taking some preventive measure to curb the industrial and houysehold waste mangement but the conservation of wildlife is only upto the government because it has the authority to impose and implement rule aginst some hunters and researchers that use plants and animals for their hobby or for their own selfish use.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the loss of species and other environmental issues like pollution, while clearly stating a personal opinion. The ideas presented are generally relevant, fulfilling the requirements for a solid mid-level score. However, some aspects are more fully developed than others. For instance, the discussion on how species loss impacts the biosphere and human welfare is elaborated with various examples, whereas the alternative view regarding pollution, while mentioning industrial and municipal waste, lacks deeper extension and is somewhat repetitive. To reach higher bands, every main idea needs equally thorough elaboration, avoiding generalisations and providing more nuanced support for both sides of the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, moving logically from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing each viewpoint, and concluding with a clear stance. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as "On the one hand", "On the other hand", and "To conclude". However, the referencing and flow are occasionally mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition "So, I have disscussed both the schools of thought and deduced my opinion in the ensuing sub division." Furthermore, within paragraphs, sentences can feel strung together rather than smoothly integrated, indicating that while the structural framework of an essay is present, the finer mechanics of textual cohesion require more flexibility and precision to achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use less common items such as "biosphere", "extinction", and "proliferation". However, the range is limited and marred by noticeable spelling mistakes and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as "enviromental", "myraid", "inseprable", "sych", "arose", "ardous", "muncipalty", and "speices". These errors indicate a lack of precision. While communication is not severely hindered and the meaning remains generally clear, the frequency of lexical slips and incorrect word forms prevents the response from attaining a higher band. To improve, the writer should focus on expanding accurate control over academic vocabulary and rigorous proofreading for spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting ambitious structures to connect ideas. However, there are frequent errors in grammar, articles, plurals, and subject-verb agreement that place the grammar firmly in the lower-middle range. Examples include "main enviromental problem", "species of plants and animal plays", "animals are envolved", and "rule aginst some hunters". Complex sentence attempts are often faulty, leading to run-on structures and awkward phrasing like "Problems are arising from all sort of pollution such as land and water pollution by industrial waste disposal". While these errors rarely completely impede communication, their frequency means that error-free sentences are not sufficiently dominant. Greater control over basic agreements, punctuation, and dependent clauses is necessary for improvement.
