Student answer (Band 4.5)
Some people argue that the most pressing environmental issue today is the extinction of certain species of plants and animals.Rest of the people say that there are more important environmental problems. In my opinion, it is ture that the loss of species of plants and animals are causing the environmental problems.
One of the major causes of the extinction of plant and animal species is global warming, which can lead to significant changes in their natural habitats. However, rising temperature can make the areas too hot which makes difficult for some animals to survive on the other hand humans also suffer in high temperature. If we talk about the removal or loss of pants it also can cause in oxygen.Plants play a crucial role in producing oxygen, which is essential for the survival of humans and animals. It would be better to not remove the plants. As far as i am concerned we should need to grow more plants for ourself.Loss of animals can cause the lack of human needs such as loss of cow people get the milk from cow.
There are also several other reasons that makes the environmetal problems.I would like to talk about is pollution beacause pollution are making the seripous problems nowadays.Pollution of factories are making the environment hot and with full of diseases on the other hand pollution of vehicles are making the disease of headache as for as i am concerned. For instance if we visit a big city like Lahore in pakistan a huge number of vehiles people are using which makes the noice pollution as well. It makes the disease headache and Asthma these are most common diseases nowadays.
In conclusion, as far as i am concerned loss of plants and animals making a big environmetal problems like global warming and pollution on the other hand loss of animals can results in loss of human needs like removal of cow etc people get milk from cow.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a somewhat unclear position on whether biodiversity loss is the main environmental problem or if others are more important. The ideas are limited and under-developed, relying on repetitive arguments rather than fully exploring both views. For instance, the discussion on plants and animals is restricted to basic notions like 'plants play a crucial role in producing oxygen' and 'people get milk from cow' without deep elaboration. Furthermore, a minor portion of the text includes copied phrases from the task prompt, which do not count towards the content development. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to clearly present a well-developed position throughout the essay, extending and supporting all ideas with relevant examples and deeper analysis of the competing viewpoints.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response shows some organization with basic paragraphing, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. The transitions between sentences and paragraphs can feel abrupt and repetitive, with over-reliance on basic cohesive devices like 'on the other hand' and 'as far as i am concerned'. Referencing is not always clear, leading to a disjointed flow. For example, sentences such as 'If we talk about the removal or loss of pants it also can cause in oxygen' disrupt the logical sequence of thought. To improve cohesion, the writer should ensure a logical progression throughout the text, using a wider variety of cohesive devices more accurately and naturally, and structuring paragraphs around clear central topics.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'ture' instead of 'true', 'pants' instead of 'plants', 'environmetal', 'seripous', and 'vehiles'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary like 'extinction' and 'global warming', but lacks the precision and range needed for a higher band. To progress, the student should expand their lexical range by learning correct word forms, improving spelling accuracy, and incorporating more precise, natural collocations relevant to academic topics.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of structures, with frequent errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. While there is a mix of simple and attempting complex sentences, attempts at complex structures are often faulty and plagued by grammatical inaccuracies, such as subject-verb agreement errors ('the loss of species of plants and animals are causing', 'pollution are making'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('makes the disease headache and Asthma'). Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent, with run-on sentences and spacing issues. To achieve a better score, the writer must improve control over basic sentence patterns, ensure correct subject-verb agreement, and reduce the frequency of grammatical errors in complex sentences.
