Student answer (Band 4.5)

In recent times, Some people believe that the main cause of our time is the environment of some species of plants and animals and other public think that there are a lot of other sorroundings which cause our environment.

A large number of people think that only cause of pollution is habitats and have a lot of effects it is because the government makes a lot of places which are only sorrunded by trees and other kind if facilities such as proper hygiene protection allow by goernment and it's only free for local people. for example, if government allows that kind of places for animals to go and wash there so the environment don't have alot of pollution.

on the contrary, the vast majority public argue that this is not the major cause of our pollution. there are so much things happening around us pollute the sorrundings such as big factories cars and bricks buildings. for example, these all things in our hand to control just as, if there are only factories in particular area it helps to prevent better environment in contrast, cars fuel makes a lot of problem in societies such as if you want to go around your home you just start car or motorcycle to pick that things if this kind of things avoided it will become more good.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response responds to the task only minimally, which is reflected in the fact that the ideas presented are underdeveloped and lack a clear, sustained position on both views. While the prompt asks to discuss the loss of particular species versus other environmental problems, the writing struggles to articulate these core concepts clearly, mentioning vague notions of habitats and pollution. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, coming in at 223 words, which limits the ability to fully develop the arguments. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to ensure the minimum length is met and extend each viewpoint with clear explanations and relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

Information and ideas are not arranged coherently throughout the essay. While basic paragraphing is attempted, the overall progression is difficult to follow. The transitions between sentences and paragraphs feel disjointed, making it hard for the reader to trace a logical argument. For example, phrases like 'on the contrary, the vast majority public argue' attempt to create contrast, but the weak referencing and faulty cohesive devices mean the logical flow is disrupted. To improve, the writer should focus on structuring paragraphs around clear central topics and using cohesive devices more accurately to link ideas logically.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent lexical errors that impede communication. Throughout the text, there are noticeable issues with word choice, word form, and spelling, such as 'sorroundings', 'goernment', and 'habitats' used incorrectly in place of species or ecosystems. The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for expressing simple thoughts, but fails to handle more complex or abstract academic concepts. To progress, the writer needs to expand their vocabulary range and learn the correct collocations and forms for common academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple or poorly formed sentence structures where errors are frequent and often distort meaning. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement, article use, and prepositions within grammatical patterns, such as 'if government allows that kind of places for animals to go and wash there so the environment don't have alot of pollution.' Furthermore, punctuation is frequently neglected or misused. To achieve a higher score, the writer must work on constructing grammatically sound simple sentences before attempting complex structures, paying careful attention to verb tenses and clause agreements.
