Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is undeniable that we are living in a planet where several problems make the life worse. some individuals say the main problem is the extinction of endangered species of both plants and animals. while other believe that there are more important environmental problems. This essay will discuss both views before giving my opinion.
on one hand, Many species of plants and animals are becoming extinct over the past few decades. There are several reasons for the extinction of these species. Firstly, the habiat lose is the mojar concern for the extinction of particular animal species. Deforestation lead to lose the natural home of species.Secondly hunting and poaching also cause the removal of species. For example, people kill the rhinos for their horns because these are used to make medicinal products.Plants are also very crucial for maintaining the biodiversity of planet and it control the temperatue . Moreover, some plants also used for the medicinal products like corianders and hishum leaves. So, it is very imporatnt for the environment.
On the other hand, some people argue that there are more severe problems for the environment.
Firstly, Air pollution is the major detrimental ramcification on the environment. There are several causes of air pollution.Infrastructure projects make the dust wgich accumulate in the atmosphere and cause air pollution. In addition, factories release harmfull gases in the air and causes health problems like asthma.Sevondly, Noise poluution is also major concern in big cities and cause the environment problems..For wxample , hustle and bustle of cities makes the people frustrated and anxious.
From my perspective, i believe there shuold be a balance solution for both species and pollution. Government should enforce strict rules on the endangered species and pollution like problems. For example, government should impose fines and imprisonment for the offenders.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views—the loss of species versus other environmental problems—and presents a personal position in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on plant biodiversity and air pollution introduces relevant points, such as habitat loss and industrial emissions, but fails to extend them with sufficient depth or specific examples. The example regarding rhinos and medicinal products is introduced but lacks elaboration. While the overall stance is discernible, the arguments are presented in a somewhat generalised manner, lacking the thorough extension expected at higher levels.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some overall organisation, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing separate viewpoints, and a concluding section. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression between the ideas, making the logical flow somewhat disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they tend to be basic and repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on listing transitions like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover'. Paragraphing is attempted, but some paragraphs are overly brief or lack internal cohesion, leading to a mechanical feel in how ideas are linked together.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary suitable for discussing environmental issues, including terms like 'extinction', 'biodiversity', 'habitat', and 'emissions'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout the text, such as 'habiat', 'lose' instead of 'loss', 'mojar', 'temperatue', 'ramcification', and 'poluution'. These lexical inaccuracies occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and reflect an inadequate command of less common lexical items and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('in a planet'), incorrect verb forms ('while other believe', 'cause the environment problems'), and problems with prepositions and pluralisation. For example, sentences like 'Infrastructure projects make the dust wgich accumulate' contain multiple structural and agreement errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing and capitalization.
