Student answer (Band 5.0)
With increasing population, our environment is affected terribaly, which created numerous environmental problems such as global warming, deforestation, loss of various species of plants and animal etc. Some people stand with a believe, that the main environmengtal problem is the loss of particular species of plants and animal, whereas some stand beside a sloid believe of having more important enviromental problem than this.
To begin with, with increase demand of housing, deforestation taking place and causing
On the other hand, due to glabal warming, weather is changing unpredictabily ,causing floods ,storms sunamis, melting of glaciers etc. If we still choose to ignore these warnings of nature, our whole plant will be completely destroyed. People are facing skin diseases, cancer and number of skin problems due to expsore in area, where we have hole in teh ozone layer.
In conclusion, both opionions are right to an extent, with changes in our environment we facing alot of envirnmental problems. I would support the other half of the group , we have more important envirnmental probles such as housing, scarsity of natural resouraces , global warming, which is leading to weather changes and root cause of natural clamities like flood, storms etc.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
Importantly, the length requirement is NOT met. The student's response contains only 189 words, falling significantly short of the 250-word minimum, with 9 words copied from the task prompt excluded. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence in the second paragraph ('To begin with, with increase demand of housing, deforestation taking place and causing...'). Because of this truncation and the restricted length, the task is only partially addressed, and the position is not fully developed or sustained. While both views are acknowledged in the introduction and conclusion, the arguments lack adequate extension and support, keeping the response at a lower level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response shows some basic organisation, utilizing transitional phrases such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, there is no clear overall progression due to the incomplete nature of the text and the severely underdeveloped body paragraphs. Paragraphing is attempted, but the second paragraph is left unfinished. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and repetitive manner, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as ambiguous pronoun use when referring back to environmental problems. These structural and organizational limitations prevent the writing from achieving a more fluid logical flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable spelling and word formation errors throughout the text, such as 'terribaly', 'environmengtal', 'sloid', 'glabal', 'unpredictabily', 'sunamis', 'plant' instead of planet, 'expsore', 'opionions', 'scarsity', and 'clamities'. While the student attempts to use some less common environmental vocabulary like 'global warming', 'deforestation', and 'ozone layer', the persistent inaccuracies in spelling and word choice cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex constructions. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('due to glabal warming, weather is changing'), incorrect prepositions ('due to expsore in area'), subject-verb agreement issues ('with changes in our environment we facing'), and tense inconsistencies. Attempts at complex sentences frequently result in faulty structures, and punctuation errors are common. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader throughout the text.
