Student answer (Band 4.5)
In the 21st century, there are many issues arise day-by-day. Environmental issue is one of the main problem which is faced the whole world. The loss of particular species of plants and animals is the biggest threat to our community. But climate change is the biggest issue as compared to loss of plants and animals.
Overall, climate change is bigger one issue as comparison to loss of plants and animals. Environmental problems are divided into different segments. Loss of biodiversity, threats to the humanity and decrease the species of plants and animals in this world. In my point of view, climate change is the biggest threat to all humanity. It is the main cause of all enviornmental problems. Increase the temperature and melting the glaciers due to climate change. Floods and increase the level of sea are the main cause of climate change. Through climate change, many environmental problems arise in this world in the shape of loss of species of plants and animals.
Panda and many species are extinguished due to environmental degradation. Every year, polluted water went to the sea through floods. Enviornmental problems are increasing day by day due to human activities.
The civil society and top leadership should take actions on the basis of collaboration. Awareness compaigns should be increased among people. So that people take action to decrease the environmental problems and safeguard the natural beautry. Natural beauty is the gift of Allah. As a community, we should protect the beauty of God through solid action rather than paper planning.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
Please note that the response contains only 246 words, which fails to meet the minimum requirement of 250 words (not counting 9 words copied from the prompt). The essay addresses the task only partially. While it attempts to discuss both views regarding environmental problems and mentions the loss of species versus climate change, the position is not always clear, and the ideas are limited and under-developed. The arguments jump between different points without sufficient explanation or relevant examples. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to fully meet the word count, develop each viewpoint with well-supported arguments, and present a much clearer, more extended personal opinion throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The information and ideas are not arranged in a truly coherent manner, lacking a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the paragraphs are brief, disjointed, and do not logically group related ideas together. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, or inaccurate, making the flow of the essay abrupt. For example, sentences like 'Overall, climate change is bigger one issue as comparison to loss of plants and animals' appear repetitious without advancing the argument logically. To improve, the writer needs to use logical sequencing, ensure clear referencing throughout the text, and apply a wider variety of cohesive devices effectively to connect sentences and paragraphs smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward phrasings that reflect a basic range, such as 'bigger one issue' and 'decrease the species of plants and animals'. Spelling and word-form errors are present, including 'enviornmental', 'extinguished' instead of extinct, and 'compaignps'. These errors and restricted word choices can cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, practice correct word forms and spellings, and incorporate less common lexical items with greater precision and awareness of collocation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex structures that are faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, tenses, and sentence construction, such as 'there are many issues arise day-by-day', 'which is faced the whole world', and fragments like 'Increase the temperature and melting the glaciers'. Punctuation and article usage are also inconsistent. These frequent errors can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over basic and complex sentence patterns, ensure subject-verb agreement, and reduce grammatical inaccuracies significantly.
