Student answer (Band 4.5)

Nowadays, environmental issuses significantly increased, so accroding to that, some people think that loss of particular species of plants and animals is main problem, but other peoples argue that bad environmental condition is more crucial. We will discuss both the views before my opinion.

On the one hand, so many plants and animals disappear because of the bad environmental condition. Due to some human activities climate changes occur and because of that some birds and animals died. They can not surive in harmfull environment. Other reason is that, some plants can not grow on land beacuse land allready polluted by humans and some birds and animals depends on some particular plants. They has not sufficient plants to eat due to this they can not lived without food. For instance, nowadays sparrow has disappear because of the bad environmental condition.

On the other hand, in this modern era, people are very careless.Firstly, they spread non degradable material on land and polluted the land. Some industries remove their liquid waste into river and made river polluted. This human activities can cause the environment and it leads to climate change. For example, metal industries remove some gases in air and made air pollutted. Simillarly, they remove their soild watse on land and it blocks the spores of land.

In conclusion, government should inrtoduce the penalty aginst people who harm environment. and also education department shoult teach students to protect our ennvironment.ib iee jdnd ojecf ien eoinc eoieqincoe poenn owiencn pwein oewien piwen

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response sits at a lower band level because it only partially addresses the task requirements. Furthermore, the length requirement is NOT met as the response contains only 241 words, which is 9 words short of the 250-word minimum (eight words copied directly from the prompt were not counted). While the student attempts to discuss both views regarding environmental problems and mentions their own opinion in the introduction, the ideas remain very limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on plant and animal extinction relies on repetitive and simplistic statements like 'some birds and animals died' without offering well-reasoned support or detailed examples. The conclusion also trails off into incoherent gibberish at the end, severely limiting task completion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

Coherence and cohesion show some basic organizational structure, yet there is a lack of clear overall progression. The writer attempts to use standard signposting phrases such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which helps demarcate the paragraphs. However, the logical development within these paragraphs is frequently disrupted by mechanical and repetitive transitions. Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the paragraphing breaks down completely at the very end with a string of random letters and disjointed phrases replacing a proper concluding thought. This erratic ending hinders the smooth flow of information and keeps the overall organizational quality at a basic level.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The lexical resource displayed is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, featuring frequent word-choice errors and spelling mistakes such as 'issuses', 'accroding', 'surive', 'harmfull', 'allready', 'polluted', 'pollutted', 'Simillarly', and 'soild watse'. While the student attempts to use less common topical vocabulary like 'degradable material' and 'climate change', noticeable inaccuracies cause some difficulty for the reader and impede precise communication. There is a lack of flexibility in word choice, and phrasing remains restricted to simple expressions throughout the body paragraphs.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Grammatical range and accuracy are characterised by a very limited range of sentence structures, with attempts at complex sentences frequently resulting in faulty syntax. The text contains frequent errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'environmental issuses significantly increased', 'some plants can not grow on land beacuse land allready polluted', 'They has not sufficient plants', and 'government should inrtoduce the penalty aginst people who harm environment.' Punctuation and word form within grammatical patterns also show persistent issues. These frequent errors distract the reader and require effort to parse, though basic meaning can still be understood in most sentences.
