Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many individuals aruge that the vital issue with environment these days are loss of specific species of plants and animals, While others believe there are more crucial envirnmental problems. This essay will discuss both perspectives and explain why my view, regarding how both concering both problems are to the envirnment.

On one hand, a significant number of plants and wildlife creatures are at risk of extinction due to massive hunting and deforestation. However absences of this species and creatures from food chain can lead to major imbalance in nature and causes distubance in food cycle of other animals as well. For instanse, high demand in plam oil rise the cultivation of plam trees alone distubing the ecosystem by cutting other trees down, where varities of species reply on for food and shelter this alone wipes out various speacies of plants and animals. Each and every animal and plant contributes to the plant and are very vital for the natural and extinction of any species is concering.

On other hand, humans have polluted the earth in a way which is not even reversable to some extend. In addition, human being are still continuting to distrub the enviroment by releasing harmfull gases in the air, throwing plastic waste in oceans and polluting soil casuing major health issues. Where as, here in banglore and delhi the air is so polluted people own air purification in order to save their kidneys because apperently inhealing that air is equallent to smoking a pack of ciggarette per day. However, government is working on implementing strict laws regarding useage of biofriendly products and waste controll. This might help in get in control of the stituation little but inorder to reverse the damage caused to the planet will take much longer period of time.

In conclution both the problems are equally concerning and need to dealth with simialneously. although other environment problems seems much bigger loss of animals and plants but tackeling this issues are crucial.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the loss of species versus other environmental problems—and presents a clear position that both issues are equally concerning. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the arguments regarding species loss and the disruption of the food chain are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and lack deeper extension. For instance, the example of palm oil is introduced to show how habitats are destroyed, but the explanation remains general rather than fully explored. Similarly, the discussion on pollution mentions specific cities like Bangalore and Delhi, which grounds the argument in reality, but the supporting points on governmental laws and waste control are only partially developed. To reach a higher level, the ideas would need more thorough elaboration with more precise examples and a more cohesive, well-supported stance throughout all body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different facets of the prompt. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Devices such as 'On one hand', 'However', and 'In addition' are employed to signpost the progression of ideas, but referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'Where as, here in banglore...' which disrupts the logical flow between sentences. Additionally, the transition into the final conclusion is abrupt due to phrasing issues. To achieve a more advanced standard, the links between sentences need to be smoother and referencing must be handled with greater precision to ensure seamless progression throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'extinction', 'ecosystem', 'purification', and 'biofriendly'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form throughout the response, such as 'aruge' instead of argue, 'envirnment' instead of environment, 'absences' instead of absence, 'plam' instead of palm, 'speacies' instead of species, 'reversable' instead of reversible, 'casuing' instead of causing, 'apperently' instead of apparently, 'inhealing' instead of inhaling, 'equallent' instead of equivalent, 'ciggarette' instead of cigarette, 'useage' instead of usage, 'controll' instead of control, 'inorder' instead of in order, 'conclution' instead of conclusion, 'dealth' instead of dealt, and 'simialneously' instead of simultaneously. These inaccuracies do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score because spelling and word-formation errors occur frequently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there is a limited range of grammatical control, with frequent errors in basic agreement, articles, and prepositions. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'the vital issue with environment these days are loss of specific species' instead of 'is the loss', and prepositional errors such as 'reply on' instead of 'rely on' and 'in the air' versus 'into the air'. There are also issues with pluralisation and article use, such as 'high demand in plam oil rise the cultivation' and 'tackeling this issues'. These grammatical errors are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader, keeping the writing firmly at this level.
