Student answer (Band 5.0)
yes it might be true for some people to loose some particular spieces of plants and animal and they consider it as a huge environmental problem. i also support this statement but not completely in my opinion the loose of some rare spieces of plants and animals are may create an huge impect on environment. for example, tortoise are cleaner agent for our environment and clean the lakes by eating dead fishes, algy, plant waste, etc. and many more animals are in a list which shows they are important for our environment and ecosystem. moving forward to plant species, in whole world there are various species of plants. some of are poisonous, dangerous for humans, some of are medicinal plants which helps the human for their health. so in my point of view i think those animals which are truly important for our environment and those plants which helps humans and other animals in survival should be needed protection and loose of some of them couse as environmental problem. nor let's moving to the other statement. the statement says that there are more important environmental problems. and I also agree with that statement. because beside the important spieces of plants and animals thare are other huge problem also like air pollutionz harmful bases, water polution, deforestation, over mining the Earth, wtc. all of them are very dangerous and harmful for humans ans environment like for plants and animals. so they all are also counted as environmental problems and we need to be careful towards this all issues.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on environmental problems and offering a personal opinion, which places it at the five-and-a-half level. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on plant species touches on poisonous and medicinal varieties, but the explanation lacks sufficient depth or specific supporting evidence. Similarly, the counter-argument regarding broader issues like air pollution and deforestation is introduced briefly at the end without adequate elaboration. Your position is generally understandable, but it is not fully developed throughout the response. To progress further, you need to extend your arguments with more detailed explanations, specific examples, and better-rounded elaboration for both perspectives.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The writing demonstrates some basic organisation, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas, reflecting the lower-intermediate band. The response is essentially structured as one massive block of text, lacking proper paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, the discussion of species loss, the alternative viewpoint, and the conclusion. Furthermore, cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, mechanical, or repetitive, relying heavily on transitional phrases like 'moving forward to plant species' and 'nor let's moving to the other statement' in an awkward manner. Referencing and logical sequencing are sometimes unclear. To improve, you must group your thoughts into distinct, logical paragraphs and use a wider variety of accurate cohesive links to guide the reader smoothly through your arguments.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey your basic meaning, fitting the five-and-a-half level. You attempt some less common terminology, such as 'ecosystem', 'medicinal plants', and 'deforestation', but this is offset by noticeable errors in spelling, word choice, and word form. For example, 'loose' is used instead of 'loss', 'spieces' is misspelled for 'species', 'algy' is used for 'algae', 'impect' for 'impact', and 'polution' for 'pollution'. Additionally, awkward phrasing such as 'cleaner agent' and 'over mining' appears. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors sometimes cause difficulty for the reader. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary, improve your mastery of word forms, and ensure accurate spelling of key terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are often faulty, which is characteristic of the five-and-a-half level. There are frequent grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples include 'tortoise are cleaner agent', 'some of are poisonous', 'which helps the human for their health', and 'couse as environmental problem'. Punctuation is also weak, particularly with run-on sentences and a lack of proper capitalisation at the beginning of sentences like 'i also support'. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on increasing your control over complex sentence patterns, ensuring accurate verb tenses and agreements, and refining your punctuation.
