Student answer (Band 5.5)
Our society is divied into two thoughts on one debate. Due to extinction of some particular species of plants and animals is a burning issue of environment problem. Other critics argue that there are other cause for the environment problem. From my perspective, other factors are also responsible for enviromental issues.
On the one hand, one of the singificant environmental problem today is the extinction of certain species of plants and animals. When plants and animals disappear, it can affect the natural balance of ecosystem. Moreover, some species paly a vital role like marine life as well as terrestrial plants and animals for the biodiversity, which the disappearance of species may have dentimental consequences for the environment. For instance, it is proven that in India, around 80% animals and plants are extinction after covid 19, which was the burning issue for the environment.
On the other hand, other reasons are also accountable for environmental problem such as traffic congection, noise pollution, climate change, global warming, Water scarcity and deforestaion direct affect plants, animals and millions of people. Consequently, Individuals may be exposed to a number of diseases, which can have serious consequences for their health. A prime example is that, in 2006, because of water flooding affected millions of people, plants, and animals, causing significant environmental damage and the loss of some species.
To conclude, although extinction species of plants and animals is a serious issue for the environment problem, I believe that, there are many cause such as climate change, deforestion and traffic congection also responsible for the environmental issues.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a clear overall preference for the view that environmental problems extend beyond species loss. The two body paragraphs also include relevant points, such as ecosystem balance, climate change and water scarcity. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the first paragraph does not explain clearly how the example supports the claim, and the statement that 80% of India’s plants and animals became extinct after COVID-19 is implausible and needs reliable evidence. The flooding example is also vague and does not clearly establish its date or connection to the argument. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each problem and use accurate, specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the overall direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several ideas are listed rather than connected through explanation. For example, the second body paragraph moves from traffic congestion and pollution to diseases, then to flooding without showing the links between them. Some references, including “which” after the biodiversity point, are difficult to follow. Build clearer links between each claim, its explanation and its example, and use cohesive devices less mechanically.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt topic-specific vocabulary, including “extinction,” “biodiversity,” “water scarcity,” and “deforestation,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “two thoughts on one debate,” “other cause for the environment problem,” and “plants and animals are extinction” are not natural or precise. Misspellings such as “divied,” “singificant,” and “congection” also reduce accuracy. Learn common environmental collocations and check spelling and word forms; for example, use “two opposing views,” “environmental problems,” and “species are becoming extinct.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “When” and “although,” and use a range of sentence openings. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and prepositions occur often enough to make some sentences hard to understand. For example, “Due to extinction of some particular species … is a burning issue” combines an incomplete introductory phrase with a main clause, while “other reasons are also accountable … such as … direct affect” has an unclear grammatical structure. The conclusion also has faulty agreement and construction in “there are many cause … also responsible.” Practise building complete subject–verb clauses and checking singular/plural forms and sentence boundaries.
