Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, the people says that the loss of the particular species of the plants and animals are the main environmental problem at present time, while others argues that climate change is the more important environmental issue. This essay will disscuss both views and i believe that climate is the more serious problem because this directly harm the humans.
The people says that the loss of species is major enviromental problem, the loss of plants and animals is the enviromental issue. Each plants and animals are play important role in the ecosystem. It depend on the others if one specie is lost it also effects on the other species. For example, if a bees are disappeared plants are difficult to grow. So the government make a step and take protection of the endangered species and that is neccessary for the healthy enviroment.
On the other side, climate change is more serious environmental problem then the loss of species, the smoke release from the factory and from cars are the major cause of the air pollution if badly impacts on the health of the humas. Rise in the temperature is the cause of heatstrokes and floods. Also water pollution is effects on the humans health.
From my perspective, the loss of species is important problem but climate change is the more serious enviromental issue it directly effects on the human health, air and water pollution destroys human health slowly.
In the conclusion, the loss of palnts and animals is the enviromental problem as a result if one specie is lost is also effect on the more species, humans aslo destroys its natural habitat for construction, while the climate change is very danger for the humans, air pollution and the water pollution destroys the human health slowly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear opinion: you consider species loss important but argue that climate change is more serious because it harms people. The examples about bees, ecosystem effects, factory and car emissions, heatstroke, and floods are relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The species-loss paragraph repeats the claim and gives only a brief explanation of the bee example, while the climate-change discussion lists effects without explaining their wider consequences or comparing their scale with biodiversity loss. The conclusion introduces habitat destruction, which is not developed in the main body. Develop each argument with a clearer chain of reasoning and make the comparison supporting your opinion more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, separate discussion of the two views, an opinion, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the other side” and “In the conclusion” help readers follow the intended progression. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and ideas within paragraphs do not always connect clearly. For example, the first body paragraph repeats that species loss is an environmental problem before explaining ecosystem interdependence. The final paragraph also combines species loss, habitat destruction, climate change, and pollution in a long sequence, making the relationship between these points unclear. Use topic sentences that introduce each paragraph’s main claim, then connect examples directly to that claim and avoid repeating the same point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “ecosystem,” “endangered species,” “air pollution,” and “water pollution,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main position. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less precise. Examples include “the humans,” “smoke release from the factory,” “heatstrokes,” and repeated use of “serious environmental problem.” There are also misspellings such as “enviromental,” “disscuss,” and “palnts.” Build a wider set of accurate expressions for causes, consequences, and comparisons, and check spelling carefully. More precise phrasing would help distinguish climate change from pollution rather than treating them as interchangeable issues.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if one specie is lost” and a contrast introduced with “while.” The main ideas are generally recoverable, but some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms reduce accuracy. For instance, “the people says” and “others argues” have subject–verb agreement problems, while “Each plants and animals are play” combines incompatible forms. The sentence beginning “the smoke release from the factory” also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and several clauses are joined with commas rather than being properly separated. Practise building complete sentences with one clear subject and verb, then check agreement and clause boundaries.
