Student answer (Band 4.5)

Some individuals say that the main environmental issue of our period is the loss of particular species of plant and animals. Others say that there are more crucial environmental issues. Environmental issues cause many problems for humans.

On the one hand, loss of species of plant is not good for the environment. Plant is the main specie of environment. The loss of animals is also not beneficial for the environment. The plants and trees are so beneficial for the human because they give a healthy lifestyle to human and maintain human strong. Plants generates vital oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide through photosynthesis. Animals provide major physical, mantal and social benefits. Spending time with animals lowers the stress hormone cortisol.

On the other hand, the other important environmental issues are air and water pollution, climate change, biodiversity loss, waste management crises. Pollution of vehicles and industries damage the environment system. Human needs a neat and clean environment to live a healthy lifestyle. Overexploitation, habitat destruction and pollution threaten millions of plant and animal species with extinction. The waste of animals also damage the environment system. The dust in the environment also damage the ecosystem.

In conclusion, the loss of particular species of plants and animals is the main environmental problem. Plants generates oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, spending time with animals feel you happy and remove all the stress. The other issues of environmental system like pollution, biodiversity, climate change etc. For a healthy lifestyle human need a clear environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You address both views and state your opinion in the conclusion: you identify species loss as the main problem, while also naming pollution, climate change and waste management. However, the discussion is only minimally developed. The first body paragraph lists benefits of plants and animals, but does not explain clearly why losing particular species is the most serious environmental problem; the second lists other issues without comparing their scale or consequences. The conclusion repeats points rather than resolving the comparison. The response is 232 words, below the required 250; 17 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each view with a clear reason and a relevant example, then explain why your chosen problem outweighs the alternatives.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning with “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps readers identify the two views. However, progression within paragraphs is weak because several points are placed side by side without showing how they connect. For example, the first body paragraph moves from plant loss to human health and then to the stress benefits of animals, without linking these claims directly to species extinction. The conclusion also repeats earlier points and ends with an incomplete sentence: “The other issues of environmental system like pollution, biodiversity, climate change etc.” Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and make the final paragraph a complete summary of your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant environmental vocabulary, including “photosynthesis,” “carbon dioxide,” “habitat destruction,” “overexploitation” and “extinction.” These terms show an attempt to discuss the topic specifically. However, the overall range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “environment system,” “healthy lifestyle” and repeated use of “damage.” There are also word-form and spelling problems, including “specie,” “mant al” (written as “mantal”) and “generates” where the subject is plural. Some collocations sound unnatural, for example “maintain human strong.” Aim for precise topic-related phrases and vary repeated words; check spelling and whether nouns and verbs fit naturally together.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences use simple structures, and the basic meaning is generally understandable. There is an attempt at a more complex explanation in “Plants generates vital oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide through photosynthesis,” but subject–verb agreement is inconsistent: “Plants” requires “generate,” and the verbs in the same clause should follow the plural subject. Other recurring errors include “Plant is the main specie,” “Human needs,” and “The waste … damage,” where articles, number and agreement need attention. The final paragraph contains a sentence fragment beginning “The other issues of environmental system…” Sentence patterns are also repetitive, with few controlled complex forms. Practise accurate plural subjects and complete sentences, then add clauses using “because,” “which” or “although” to explain relationships between ideas.
