Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
There are split opinions regarding the topic is discussed. Whlie some individuals thinks extinction of a specific plant and animal species is major environmental problem of current genration. Others are of the opinion that there are more significant problem related to environment. Therefore, prior to my opinion both the sides are discussed in ensuing write-ups with appropriate examples.
Discussing the former opinion, the foremost argument is extinction of plants and animals is very harmful to environment. If a paticular species is lost it cannot be obtain again. There are several species which plays an important role in nature. For instance, earthworms are consider to be lands best compainon they provide land nitrogen which is very helpful in agriculture. If that species is lost then plantation will be very diffcult without them.
Conversely, the suppoters of the opposite opinion have their own arguments. To begin with, in current era environment have greater problem like deforestation and fresh water crisis which people need to worry about. Water is an non-renewable source due to human consumption and pollution it at greater risk and than extinction of certain species. Moreover, without water any plant or animal species is at risk of extinction and environment could lost it forever.
To reiterate, although, some individuals in morden era lossing of species have a greater concern and affect nature in several ways, i support the latter viewpoint to great extent. This is because lossing of species in nature is not a prominat problem. While, loss of non renewable sources have a significant impact on world's environment. For instance, extinction of petroleum products and fresh water will have greater impact on environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state your position: the first body paragraph explains why species loss matters, while the second presents deforestation and freshwater scarcity as broader concerns. The earthworm example gives the first view some relevant support, and your conclusion makes your preference for the latter view clear. However, the discussion is unevenly developed. The claim that species loss is “not a prominat problem” is asserted rather than explained, and the comparison between species extinction and resource depletion needs clearer reasoning. The example of the “extinction of petroleum products” is also unclear and does not convincingly support your point. Develop each side with a specific, accurate example and explain how it demonstrates the relative scale of the problem.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “Conversely,” “Moreover,” and “To reiterate” help signal the direction of the discussion, and the reader can follow your main position. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement and shows some features of stronger progression. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence, “There are split opinions regarding the topic is discussed,” does not establish the topic smoothly, and “Therefore, prior to my opinion” makes the relationship between ideas difficult to follow. In the final paragraph, “While” introduces a fragment rather than a complete contrast. Use more natural transitions and make each sentence’s connection to the preceding idea explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “extinction,” “deforestation,” “fresh water crisis,” and “non-renewable source,” so the reader can identify the environmental issues being discussed. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “paticular,” “compainon,” “lossing,” and “prominat” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “provide land nitrogen” and “extinction of petroleum products.” These choices can make the intended meaning difficult to interpret, particularly in the example about petroleum. Build a more accurate set of environmental collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; choose precise terms rather than attempting expressions whose meaning is uncertain.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If a particular species is lost…” and a contrast introduced by “although.” The main ideas are generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “some individuals thinks” should use a plural verb, while “environment have” needs a singular subject and matching verb. “Water is an non-renewable source” has an article error, and “If that species is lost then plantation will be…” lacks a clear, well-formed construction. The opening sentence is also grammatically incomplete. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and article use, and proofread complex sentences to ensure each has a complete, logically connected clause.
