Student answer (Band 6.0)

The disappearance of certian species and animals is considered by some people is the most serious environmental issue. eOthers belive that different environmental problems are essentail. This essay will discuss both these view, but i believe that climate change and polliton are the most significant issues.

On the one hand, the loss of particular species can have a serious impact on environment. Every animal and plant play an crucial role in maintaining the natural balance of environment. When a species become extinct, it can effect other speices that depend on its food and survival. For example, the decline of bees can reduce the pollination of plants, which may effect food production. In addition, the extinaction of animals are permenant, for upcoming generation they rarely sees animals. For example, in australia hunter killed thousand of animals in the name of entertainment such as thyalicine, tiger and deer. Therefore, government need to implement strict rule for the hunter and provide shelter to animals..

On the other hand, other environmental problems that can effect a much larger numbers of peope and countries. Climate change, air polluion and water pollution are particularly serious.Global warming is increasing temperature and contribute to extreme weather and flood. For instance, nepal was mainly effected by the risng temperature, as a result half of nepal population face natural disaster such as land sliding, flooding. Additionally, airplane consume a large amount of jet fuel, it release carbon dioxide which is harmful to envionment.

In conclusion, although the disappearance of plant and animals can seriouslyndamage the ecosystem. But i believe that climate change and pollution are more essential becuase they effect human health and natural environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a clear opinion: the introduction identifies species loss, while your position favours climate change and pollution. Relevant support includes the role of bees in pollination and the effects of rising temperatures and extreme weather. This covers the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally: the species-loss paragraph moves from ecosystem effects to hunting without fully explaining the example, and the Nepal claim about half the population is not clearly supported. Your conclusion restates your view, though it could more directly weigh the two kinds of environmental problem. To strengthen the response, explain each example precisely and show why the wider reach of climate change and pollution makes them more significant in your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the discussion easy to follow, and examples generally appear beside the points they support. This coherent arrangement is a strength. However, some links are mechanical or unclear: “In addition” introduces the permanence point without showing how it develops the previous idea, and the final sentence begins “although” but then adds “But,” creating an awkward relationship between clauses. Some references, such as “it” in the airplane sentence, could also be clearer. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the logical connection between each claim and example explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “extinct,” “pollination,” “ecosystem,” “climate change,” and “extreme weather,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “natural balance” and “carbon dioxide.” However, spelling errors are noticeable throughout, including “certian,” “polliton,” “extinaction,” and “envionment,” and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate. For example, “more essential” is not a natural way to compare environmental problems, and “effect” is repeatedly used where “affect” is needed as a verb. These errors sometimes make the reader pause. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common topic collocations, such as “pose a serious threat” and “have a wider impact.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “When a species become extinct” and a relative clause in “which may effect food production.” This shows some range, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction are persistent: “Every animal and plant play” should have a singular verb, while “a crucial role” needs the correct article. The opening sentence also has a faulty structure (“is considered by some people is”), and the conclusion combines “although” with “But” awkwardly. Some sentences join independent ideas with commas, as in the airplane example. Practise accurate clause construction and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation.
