Student answer (Band 4.5)

There will be ongoing debate about whether that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Some people believe that the main environmental problem of current time is the loss of species of plant and animals. But others believe there will be unnecessary. In my point of view the loss of plant and animals have very bad effect on enviroment. So, I will my opinion in this regard in the upcoming paragraph.

First of all, plants play a cruical role in our life. Plants give very benefits in our life. They create fresh air for the atmospher that is very benifical for the human health. Plants can control the temperature for the environments. Some disadvantages are if we do not plant trees, the climate change will gradually worse, and temperature rose gradually. My opinion is that more plant trees their is very good for environment.

Futhermore, animals and birds are very important for the environment because some animals and birds eat bad nano insects that is danger to plants. Nano insect damage a plants, plants are damage the environment. In my opinion the loss of species of plants and animals are very bad effect on environmental damage.

In the end, I would like to conclude this essay by saying that the loss of species to plants and animals should have very bad impression on the environment because some nano species damage the plants and plants damage the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You state a relevant position—that the loss of plant and animal species harms the environment—and give some supporting points about plants producing fresh air and animals eating insects. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, including the view that other environmental problems are more important. This side is not meaningfully explained; “others believe there will be unnecessary” is unclear and is not developed with reasons or examples. Your own opinion is present but repeated rather than fully supported. The response is also 229 words, below the required 250; 18 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from that count. To improve, explain both positions, compare their importance, and add specific examples and development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning with “First of all” and “Furthermore,” and a conclusion. These markers help the reader identify the stages of the essay. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and several ideas are repeated without being connected or extended. For example, the conclusion repeats that species loss harms the environment but does not draw together the discussion of both views. The sentence about insects damaging plants and plants damaging the environment is difficult to follow logically. Use each paragraph to develop one clear point, connect cause and effect explicitly, and ensure the conclusion reflects the full discussion.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “species,” “climate change,” “temperature,” and “environment,” so the general subject is usually identifiable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “plants,” “environment,” and “very bad.” There are also inaccurate or unclear choices such as “unnecessary,” “nano insects,” and “bad impression,” which make some points difficult to understand. Spelling errors such as “cruical,” “enviroment,” and “Futhermore” further reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise environmental terms and check collocations; for instance, describe species as “endangered” or “at risk,” and refer to “pest insects” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt a few different sentence patterns, including conditional and relative clauses, as in “if we do not plant trees” and “that is very beneficial for the human health.” Nevertheless, sentence forms are mostly simple, and errors in agreement, articles, and verb construction occur throughout. Examples include “the loss of plant and animals have,” where the subject requires a singular verb, and “temperature rose gradually,” where the verb form does not fit the intended meaning. The opening “whether that” is also structurally incorrect, while “I will my opinion” is incomplete. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete clause patterns, then use a wider range of controlled complex sentences.
