Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued that many people that the environmental issue of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Meanwhile others argue that there are some vital environment problems. However, in my opinion, loss of particular species is the main problem of our environment.

On the one hand, supporters of the idea thet the loss of plants and species in the main propblem. As many plants and animals are plays a big role through food chain. many animals are becoming rare because of hunting, deforestation and climate change. As a result, many animals loss thier natural homes. For example, tigers and others wild animals are in danger because of human activities. moreover plants and animals helps to maintain natural balance of our life.thus, the supports of the view support their findings back their analysis with valid arguments.

On the other hand, some people believe that other environmental problem is more important. Air pollution, water pollution and global warming are major issues.these problems effect both animals and humans. For instance,in Pakistan, air pollution ius a serious issue in big cities such as lahore it can cause breathing propblems and other health issues. similarly, global warming incrreases temperature and cause extreme weather. it also affect farming and the availablity of clean water.Hence, this view also seems to carry a lot weightage.

In my opinion, all environmental problems are connected are should be taken seriously.Howeveri believe that pollution and climate change are big issues for both humans and animals and these problems plays a big role in loss of particular species.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both views and state a position, first presenting species loss as important and then considering pollution and climate change. The examples of endangered tigers and air pollution in Lahore are relevant, and your final point that environmental problems are connected gives your opinion some direction. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the first view relies on brief claims about food chains and natural balance, while the second lists problems without comparing their relative importance in depth. Your position also shifts: you initially call species loss the main problem, but conclude that pollution and climate change play a major role in causing it. The response is 241 words, so it is 9 words below the 250-word minimum; the 13 words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop and reconcile your position more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding opinion. Phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “For example” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several links feel mechanical or do not express the relationship accurately. For instance, “thus, the supports of the view support their findings back their analysis” is difficult to follow and repeats the same idea rather than advancing it. The conclusion also begins “In my opinion” but does not clearly resolve the difference between the opening claim and the final position. Use clearer links between cause, example, and consequence, and make the conclusion consistent with the introduction.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “food chain,” “deforestation,” “climate change,” “air pollution,” and “extreme weather,” so the reader can identify the main environmental issues. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “environment problems,” “carry a lot weightage,” and “loss thier natural homes”; there are also misspellings such as “propblem,” “incrreases,” and “availablity.” Repetition of “big” and “problems” further restricts precision. Build a more accurate set of topic collocations and proofread spelling, while choosing specific terms to explain how each environmental threat affects species or people.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex structures, including a reason clause beginning “because of hunting, deforestation and climate change” and a result statement introduced by “As a result.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence construction, agreement, and verb forms sometimes make meaning hard to follow. For example, “many animals are plays a big role” combines incompatible verb forms, while “plants and animals helps” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. The opening sentence, “It is often argued that many people that…,” is also structurally unclear, and “all environmental problems are connected are should be taken seriously” contains a faulty clause connection. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, verb forms, and punctuation.
