Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response addresses environmental pollution by mentioning litter, factory wastewater, and harmful emissions from old cars, and it gives practical suggestions such as using bins and asking the government to act. However, the task specifically asks you to discuss both the loss of plant and animal species and other environmental problems, then give your own opinion. Species loss is only mentioned in the opening, with no explanation or example, and your position on which problem is more important is not made clear. The response also contains 136 words, below the required 250; 17 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To improve, develop both views, state your opinion directly, and support each point with relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic sequence from everyday litter to factory pollution and vehicle emissions, so the reader can identify several related concerns. Some linking is attempted through phrases such as “So” and “this process,” and the examples generally follow the topic of pollution. However, the response is presented as one continuous paragraph, and the ideas do not form a clear discussion of the two views in the question. Connections between points are sometimes abrupt, while repeated advice such as “we avoid” does not create a developed progression. Use separate paragraphs for the two perspectives and your opinion, and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant environmental vocabulary, including “garbage,” “chemical,” “harmful gases,” and “water pollution,” which helps communicate the general subject. There are also attempts to use topic-specific terms such as “factory” and “environmental problem.” However, the range is narrow and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, for example “enviromental,” “poutant,” and “dustbeen.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “vary bigh isscu in ou roten” and “fill in the river.” Build a more accurate set of environmental terms and check spelling; for instance, describe factories as “discharging wastewater into rivers” and emissions as “polluting the air.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response mainly uses simple statements and attempts a few longer structures, including “Animals drink this… water and suffering to health issues” and the sentence about factories. These attempts show an effort to connect causes and consequences, but control is inconsistent. For example, “someone say that there more important” is missing grammatical elements, and “Animals drink … and suffering” does not keep the verb forms parallel. The opening also begins with an incomplete construction, “we will discus about … is.” Use complete subject–verb sentences, maintain consistent verb forms, and practise joining ideas with accurate clauses such as “When animals drink polluted water, they can become ill.”
