Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some individuals believe that, primary issue is the loss of specific species of plants and animals while, others argue that there are more necessary environmental issues. In my perspective, apart from plants and animals there are numerous things need consideration regarding to this.

To begin with, I would strongly say that from the loss of these species such as, plants and animals is a focus point which causing issues in surrounding because, due to these phylatic leaneage has been broken, the linkage between organisms are now incomplete. Additionally, the death of these species over the time also has affects the biodiversity dramatically. Moreover, in the ecosystem everyone is dependent on the other for the need of their energy. For instance, in an ecosystem there are three major groups such as, producers, consumers, and decomposers. These are the main components of an ecosystem. The consumers don't able to producce their own food they get their energy from others, such as primary consumer are eaten by the secondary and so on. So, if there is one died the consumers which depent upon that will also die with the passage of time. Therefore, they cause species to be endangerd.Furthermore, human also fulfill their needs from these species to accomplish their needs of protein.

On the second hand, there is also numerous issues except than these species which is causing major changes in the environment. Due to consumption of fuels bad gases emitted in the surrounding causes pollution. Additionally, when these are at its huge amount will consider more then anyother factor which causing changes in the surrounding. For instance these can cause serious health problem to every species including humans.

To conclude with i would say that, altough loss of particular species has the main disadvantage to the environment howerver, other factors may also lead towadrs that point which significantly cause issues in the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a position, particularly by explaining how species loss can disrupt food chains and biodiversity, and by mentioning pollution from fuel use. The ecosystem example helps make the first view relevant. However, the discussion is uneven: the second view is supported mainly by a brief point about harmful gases and health, without explaining why broader environmental problems may be more important. Your opinion is also difficult to identify precisely: “apart from plants and animals there are numerous things need consideration” suggests a view, but the conclusion does not clearly rank the problems or state which view you support. Develop both sides with specific reasoning and make your position explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “To begin with,” “Additionally,” and “Moreover” help signal the development of the first argument. However, progression is not consistently clear: several ideas in the first body paragraph repeat the point that species depend on one another, while the second view receives much less development. Some linking phrases are awkward or inaccurate, including “On the second hand” and “To conclude with,” and the long chain of ideas beginning “For instance” is difficult to follow. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it, using clearer references between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “biodiversity,” “ecosystem,” “consumers,” “producers,” and “pollution,” which helps communicate the subject. There is also some effort to use less common terms, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes make the meaning difficult to understand. For example, “phylatic leaneage” appears to be an unclear attempt to describe evolutionary relationships, while “focus point,” “more necessary environmental issues,” and “bad gases” are imprecise. Spelling errors such as “endangerd,” “producce,” and “depent” also reduce clarity. Build a reliable set of environmental collocations and check spelling; prefer precise expressions such as “loss of biodiversity” and “greenhouse gas emissions.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional explanation beginning “if there is one…” and a sentence using “because.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in basic sentence construction frequently make the reader work to understand your meaning. Examples include “there are numerous things need consideration,” “the death of these species … also has affects,” and “The consumers don't able to producce their own food.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “if there is one died the consumers…” and “Furthermore, human also fulfill…” Practise forming complete clauses with accurate subject–verb patterns, and use shorter sentences when explaining cause and effect.
