Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people argue that the main environmental problem at that time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. On the other hand, there are many environmental problems instead of this. This is not the main problem in this era. In my opinion both views are logical.

Firstly, I whould like to talk about, Why people consider loss of particular specoes of plants and animals is the main environmental problem? There are several reasons behind this. As we know that plants and animals are very important for our environment. Plants provide us fresh air and also oxygen which is essential for human being to live. In addition to this, plants can protect us from heavy storm. It has ability to minimize the strenght of storm.

On the other hand, animals also play an important role because different species of animals kills some other species or bacteria which is harmful for us. For example, if some of animal species become disappear instantly. The whole food chain can be disturbed.

Some people think that there are more important environmental problems. According to them, pollution created by humans are main environmental problems such as noise pollution, garbdge on roads and releasing of harmful gasses in the air etc. These problems are more important than previous one. Because humans activites spread more harmful effects on environment in comparision to loss of species.

From my perspecive, both views are equally logical. pollution created by human activities and loss of species are equally dangerous for our environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and give a personal position, stating that “both views are equally logical.” The points about plants providing oxygen, animals’ role in the food chain, and human-caused pollution are relevant. However, the discussion remains limited: the first view receives more explanation, while the second is supported mainly by a list of pollution types, and the conclusion simply repeats your position. The essay also contains 242 words, so it is 8 words below the required minimum; the 11 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. This shortfall contributes to the limited development. Explain more fully how species loss and pollution affect ecosystems or people, and support your comparison with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Your response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, paragraphs discussing the two views, and a concluding opinion. Transitions such as “Firstly” and “On the other hand” help signal changes in focus. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or repetitive. The opening says “there are many environmental problems instead of this,” then repeats that species loss is “not the main problem,” without clearly setting up the two sides. The paragraph about animals begins as a separate point but does not connect its example explicitly to the overall argument. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example to the claim it supports; also make the conclusion synthesise the comparison rather than repeat the introduction.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “species,” “food chain,” “pollution,” and “harmful gases.” Some phrases, such as “loss of particular species,” are appropriate to the subject. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling or word-choice errors make the writing less clear, including “specoes,” “garbdge,” “strenght,” and “activites.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “animals kills some other species or bacteria” and “become disappear instantly.” Aim for accurate environmental collocations and vary repeated general terms such as “important” and “problems.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise phrases will make your meaning easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including a conditional idea in “if some of animal species become disappear instantly,” and you use linking clauses to explain reasons. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “plants and animals kills” has subject–verb disagreement, while “pollution created by humans are” also needs agreement. The conditional sentence has an incorrect verb construction, and “Plants provide us fresh air” is missing an article or suitable determiner. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, particularly after “talk about” and at the start of “pollution” in the conclusion. Practise accurate agreement, articles, and conditional forms before adding more complex structures.
