Student answer (Band 5.0)
From last several years our enviroment face many changes in the enviroment, which is also detrimental impact on humans. some people thought the main cause of enviroment changes due to extinction of animals and plants, whereas, other people believe this happen because of enviromental changes. In this essay, i will discuss both views then presents my opinion.
On the one hand, animals and plants have great influence on our enviroment. plants and animals play a significant role on humans health because they provide humans a fresh air and animals poop help plants in there fertilization. plants produce carbon-dioxide which help to produce rain. for example, plants produce oxygen which is released in the air, which then used for humans to breath whereas, animals produce milk and meat for humans food. without them will
On the other hand, enviromental changes due to several reasons which include water pollution and air pollution. For example, industries wastage directly release into river which consequently exacerbate water pollution whereas, smoke produce from factories make air more polluted which effect our health. As a result, both have negative consequences on enviroment which lead to polluted air and will effect humans respiratory system and kidney.
Now presents my opinion, both things are effecting our enviroment. Industrial revolution has more impact our enviroment compared to plants. industried released waste material that effect our air and water. For example, for last yeears lahore is most polluted city in the world. Govt survay about the reason which reveal the main cause is industries polluted smoke which mixed in air which is harmful for humans health as it effect their kidney and eyes.
In conclusion, plants and animals extinction can effect because they produce oxygen and carbon dioxide. animals poop used for cultivation and growth of plants. industried wastage material also effect our water and air.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You attempt to discuss both views and state a preference for industrial pollution, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the two positions are not fully explained: the first body paragraph describes benefits of plants and animals rather than clearly showing why their loss is considered the main environmental problem. The comparison in your opinion is also unclear in “Industrial revolution has more impact our environment compared to plants,” and the conclusion mostly repeats examples instead of summarising your judgement. Some claims, such as plants producing carbon dioxide to make rain, are inaccurate, which weakens support. Explain the consequences of species loss more directly, then compare its effects with pollution and give a consistent, clearly supported opinion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, an opinion paragraph and a conclusion. Connectors such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from human health to fertilisation, rain and food without explaining how these points support the view about species loss. The opinion paragraph also repeats pollution examples rather than developing the comparison. Some linking is mechanical, and the unfinished phrase “without them will” interrupts the flow. Build each paragraph around one clear point, explain its relevance, and use referencing and transitions to show how ideas relate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “extinction,” “water pollution,” “industries,” and “respiratory system,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “environment,” “effect,” and “pollution.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “enviroment,” “industried,” “wastage,” and “animals poop,” which make parts of the response less clear or too informal. Some collocations are inaccurate, including “plants produce carbon-dioxide” in the context of producing rain. Aim for precise environmental terms and check spelling; for example, use “industrial emissions” and “animal manure” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses linked with “because,” “which,” and “whereas.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation frequently make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “From last several years our environment face,” “some people thought,” and “without them will,” where the tense or sentence construction is incomplete or incorrect. Several sentences also run together, as in the example about plants producing oxygen and humans breathing. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense consistency. Breaking long sentences into shorter, correctly punctuated units would make your ideas easier to understand.
