Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this era we see too much environmental problems and some people say that the distinction of some species and animals are the main environmental but on contrast some deny it and give importance to other environmental problems. I explain both views and then give my own opinion at the last.
On one hand, people said that the loss of some species of plant and animals are the main problem of environment because all the plants and animals have their own role in mantaining the environment. For example snakes eat frogs then frogs eat by birds amd at the end the birds eated by hummans. Secondly, the plants and animals also play a role in increasing the beauty of environment like some species of tigger are distincted which was very beautiful. Furthermore, some plants are no more which was very beneficial and that was used in for medicines.
On the other hand, some people said the other things are more important rather than the loss of plants and animals. They said the things like increasing cars, factories and other things which use fossil fuels amd expell many dangerous gases which are harmfull are more important environmental probems then those. In addition, these gases now break the ozone layer. If ozone layer have holes it cause many different health problems like cancer. They also think by increasing the technology countries make more dangerous equipment for wars like atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb may be the highest threat to life of any living thing.
To conclude, the environmental problems are incrasing day by day and it has many different causes. We should take part to imprving the quality of environment by planting more trees and governments takes an action internationaly to controll these problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views: the first body paragraph explains why species loss matters, while the second discusses pollution and weapons, and your conclusion calls for environmental action. However, the response only partially develops the discussion. The examples about food chains and medicinal plants are relevant, but their consequences are not explained in enough detail. The point about beauty is less persuasive as a reason that species loss is the main problem. Your own position is also not clearly stated: the introduction promises an opinion, but the conclusion does not say which view you consider more important or why. State that judgement directly and support it with a developed comparison of the two sides.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” make the broad progression easy to follow. Some connections within paragraphs are less clear or mechanical, however. For example, “Secondly” introduces the point about beauty without showing how it relates to the food-chain example, and “these gases now break the ozone layer” follows the pollution point without a clear explanation of the link. The conclusion also shifts to solutions rather than drawing together the comparison. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and make the final paragraph reflect your stated position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “fossil fuels,” “ozone layer,” “species,” and “medicines,” so the reader can identify the main environmental issues. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand. “Distinction” does not express the loss of species, and “distincted” is not the appropriate form; “extinction” and “become extinct” would be clearer. Other examples include “harmfull,” “probems,” and “incrasing.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “other things” and “dangerous equipment for wars.” Build a more precise set of environmental terms and check spelling and collocations so your ideas are expressed accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If ozone layer have holes it cause many different health problems.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. For example, “the loss … are” should use a singular verb, while “plants and animals have their own role” needs a plural form for “role.” In the conditional sentence, the article and verb forms need correction (“If the ozone layer has holes, it causes…”). The opening sentence also contains several clauses joined without clear grammatical control. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and use shorter, accurate sentences before adding more complex structures.
