Student answer (Band 4.5)

The environmental problems is major issue around the world as the earth temperatue is increasing day by day. Some people argue that loss of particular species of plants and animals is major environmental problem many prople says that there are other major environmental peoblems.

The loss of particular species of plants and animals causes enviromnental problems because each species in ecosytems have its particular role, some species eat specfic plants some species eat animals to maitain the balance ecosytem it is very important. For examaple if there are only plants that absorb high amounts of water which have long roots than water level of that will be decrese and vise versa. As for animals concern if in a environment there are only plants eating animals plants will decreases and cause to raise the temperature of that area as plants are major cause of rain.

There are also other environmentals problems such increses in population, due to population there will need of more houses and food for more food and houses human will cut forests so more land be used for others purposes. This also lead to loss of particular species that lives in forest.

In my opinion, loss of particular species is major cause, because environmental issue that has large impact on environments also lead to loss of particular species directly or indrectly.

In conclusion, i would say that governments should major action on such raising problem, such as increasing population and make alternative of such to keep the country population within particular limit so enviromental problrm should be reduced.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both views and state a clear opinion: you argue that species loss is the main problem because it disrupts ecosystems, while population growth and forest clearing are other concerns. The examples about water absorption and plants declining when plant-eating animals are present show an attempt to explain consequences, but the reasoning is sometimes unclear or inaccurate, and the alternative view is developed only briefly. Your conclusion recommends government action but does not fully explain how this supports your position. The response is 243 words, so it is 7 words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to develop and support the discussion. Add a clearer, more accurate example and explain why species loss outweighs the other problems.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from species’ roles to water levels and then rainfall without making each link clear. Connectors such as “For example,” “As for animals concern,” and “In my opinion” signal shifts, but some are awkward or do not show the relationship between ideas precisely. The conclusion also introduces population control without linking it clearly to the preceding argument. Use clearer topic sentences and explain each cause-and-effect link in sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “species,” “ecosystem,” “population,” “forests,” and “temperature,” so the reader can identify the subject of the essay. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “major,” “environmental problems,” and “particular species.” Frequent spelling errors, such as “temperatue,” “ecosytems,” “increses,” and “indrectly,” make the writing less clear and reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Some combinations are also unnatural, for example “raise the temperature” where the intended meaning appears to be that temperatures increase. Build a wider set of precise environmental terms and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt some longer sentences to explain causes and effects, and you use basic linking structures such as “because,” “if,” and “so.” However, sentence patterns are limited, and errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms. For example, “The environmental problems is” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “each species … have” should use a singular verb. In “there will need of more houses,” the sentence structure is incomplete, and “plants will decreases” has an incorrect verb form. Punctuation is also weak in places, especially where several clauses run together. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled subordinate clauses.
