Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the contemporary era, environmental issue is major concern, some individuals think that the main environmental problem of out time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals, others argued that there are more vital environment issues. In my opinion, environmental issues are crucial concern in the world because, The environment is the main reason for the extinction of trees and animals.
There are several environmental issues, and pollution is increasing day by day. Firstly, an increasing number of factroies and industries in urban areas, the main reason for pollution is that factories and industries release chemical waste into water and emit black smoke into the air. Secondly, the number of trucks, buses and other vehicles on the roads is increasing year by year. Moreover, people cut down trees and other plants to build factories, houses and roads. For example, In ahemdabad, recently opned factories in nikol, which the reduces black smoke and chemiacal water every day . As a result, sparrows are not seen in the Nikol area.
In addition, plastic waste is one of the major causes of environmental pollution. People throw plastic bags and bottles into rivers, oceans and public places, which pollutes water and land. Moreover, plastic takes hundreds of years to decompose, causing long-term damage to the environment. As a result, marine animals may die after swallowing plastic waste, and the natural ecosystem can be seriously affected.
In conclusion, although the loss of plant and animal species is a serious environmental issue, I believe that pollution and other environmental problems are equally important. Therefore, governments and individuals should take effective measures to protect the environment and preserve wildlife for future generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You present a relevant opinion in the introduction and conclusion: you regard pollution and other environmental problems as equally important as species loss. The discussion of pollution is supported with examples, including factory emissions and plastic harming marine animals. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the case for species loss as the main problem receives little direct explanation; it is mostly mentioned rather than developed. Your Ahmedabad example is also difficult to follow, so it does not clearly demonstrate how pollution causes species decline. Develop each side with a clear reason and a specific, explained example, then make your comparison explicit. The response meets the stated length requirement; the 12 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally stay focused, and linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help signal the sequence of points. However, progression is somewhat mechanical, with several ideas added through repeated “Moreover” and “As a result” rather than showing precisely how they relate. The first body paragraph also moves from factory pollution to traffic and tree cutting, then to a local example whose connection is unclear. Use topic sentences that identify each paragraph’s central argument, and connect examples directly to the claim they support. Clearer referencing and more varied, accurate transitions would make the overall progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant environmental vocabulary, including “chemical waste,” “pollution,” “decompose,” “marine animals” and “natural ecosystem,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as describing smoke and plastic’s long-term effects. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, for example “environmental issue is major concern,” “more vital environment issues” and “the main reason for pollution.” Spelling errors such as “factroies,” “ahemdabad,” “opned” and “chemiacal” are noticeable and sometimes make details harder to understand. Build a bank of accurate topic collocations and proofread spelling; choose precise terms rather than repeating broad words such as “issue” and “problem.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “plastic bags and bottles …, which pollutes water and land” and a result clause about marine animals. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. The opening sentence joins separate ideas with commas, while “In my opinion, environmental issues are crucial concern” lacks a determiner and has an agreement problem. Other examples include “the number … is increasing” followed by an unclear construction, and “factories …, the main reason for pollution is that,” which creates a faulty sentence structure. Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries. Practise building complex sentences around one clear main clause, then check punctuation and verb forms.
