Student answer (Band 5.0)

Environmental problems are increasing in our time. Different people think different about different problems. Some think that the lose of particular species of plants and animals. While, on the other hand, some think that there are other more important environmental problems. I am partially agree with these statements and give my opinion below.

From my perspective, the loss of numerous particular species of both plants and animals affect people's life. As we know, plants are only the source of oxygen. They are vital for our survival. While animals also places an essential role in human's life. The loss of them affects the eco-system. For an instance, considering plants, without them the live would end. They absorb carbondioxide which is harsh for us and produce oxygen which is essential for our survival.

On the other hand, people think there are more important environmental problems. It is true due to the fact that today's transportation produces a lot of smoke which make our environment polluted. The noise of their horns disturb us alot. Although the remaining space is filled by brikes companies and humans. Humans burn their waste or throw it in open places which places an important role in making our environment polluted more then before. Smoke is the main ingredient of pollution.

There are also a lot of ways to make our environment clean we just have to participate in it. Throwing trash in closed place or burined it under the soil is the best way to get rid of it. Also limit the use of vechiles.

Taking everything into account, we should take care of our environment. A polluted environment also affects our health. We should be more carefull about it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views: the first body paragraph explains why losing plant and animal species matters, while the next discusses transport emissions and waste. Your position, however, is not fully clear. “I am partially agree with these statements” does not explain which view you consider more important, and the conclusion only says that people should care for the environment. The discussion is also limited: the species paragraph focuses mainly on plants and oxygen, and the other-problems paragraph lists pollution sources without comparing their scale or consequences with biodiversity loss. Develop each view with a specific example and explain your own judgement directly, such as whether climate change or species loss poses the greater threat and why.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” help signal a change in focus. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some linking expressions do not connect ideas accurately. For example, “Although the remaining space is filled by…” begins as a contrast but does not complete a clear contrast, while “For an instance” introduces an example awkwardly. The paragraph about ways to clean the environment also shifts from discussing the two views to giving advice, interrupting the argument’s development. Use topic sentences that directly answer the question, connect each example to its main point, and make the conclusion summarise your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “species,” “oxygen,” “eco-system,” “transportation,” and “pollution,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, sometimes making meaning difficult to interpret. For instance, “plants are only the source of oxygen” is too absolute and unnatural, and “the noise of their horns disturb us” does not clearly express the environmental impact. There are also spelling errors such as “brikes,” “vechiles,” and “carefull.” Build a more precise set of environmental terms and check spelling; choose expressions that describe effects clearly, such as “vehicle emissions,” “habitat destruction,” and “biodiversity loss.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, including “It is true due to the fact that…” and a relative clause beginning “which make our environment polluted.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in both simple and complex sentences, sometimes making the intended meaning harder to follow. Examples include “Different people think different,” “the loss … affect,” and “I am partially agree,” which show problems with word forms, subject–verb agreement, and verb construction. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in “Some think that the lose… While, on the other hand…” Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
