Student answer (Band 5.0)
in recent years it is clear that pollution is increasing day by day, where some people argued that the major cause of enviornmental pollution is due to extinction of some important species including plants and animals.in contrast some people believe that there are some major issues which are the main cause of enviornmental pollution. In my perspective the major cause of enviornmental pollution is due to loss of many important living organisms and living vegetation.
The major cause of enviornmental pollution is cutting of plants and herbivores in order to make industries and housing societies and sky scrapers. due to excessive loss of forests many living organisms extinct from earth which helps to clean enviornment which are direct or indirect source of pollution. in many reports it is clear that climate changes, main cause of flood is due to cutting of trees or forests which helps to give us clean air furthermore due to increase pollution most of the people diagnose with different diseases. For instance delhi which is the city of India becomes the most polluted city in the world due to excessive loss of living vegetation.
Another cause of enviornmental problem is increasing population, although with incrasing population use of individual transports increased. motorvehicle gases become the major issue of increasing air pollution nowadays, furthermore due to increase in number of population deforestation occurs which is also the main problem. industries waste and chimneys export harmful gases in the large amount which causes ozone depletion and increase in temperature and cause of skin cancer nowadays. For example due to increases in enviornmental pollution caused by old motorvehicles and industries in lahore government banned them, promote ecofriendly vehicles which result in recent years a large differnce is shown.
overall in my perspective the major cause of enviornmental pollution is due to cutting down of trees and extinction of living organisms. In result air pollution increased which caused major enviornmental problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear overall view that the loss of vegetation and species is the main environmental concern, and you include relevant examples such as Delhi and Lahore. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the alternative view is not fully explained: population growth, transport, and industrial emissions are listed, but their importance is not weighed against species loss or developed as a distinct argument. Some claims also need clearer support, such as saying that organisms “help to clean environment” and linking their extinction directly to pollution. To strengthen the response, explain why some people consider issues such as climate change or air pollution more urgent, then compare these with biodiversity loss and support your own position with a more precise example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The reader can generally follow the main topics, and linking expressions such as “in contrast,” “furthermore,” and “for instance” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear because several causes and effects are joined together without a clear hierarchy. For example, the second body paragraph moves from population growth to vehicles, deforestation, industrial emissions, ozone depletion, and Lahore. Some connectors are repetitive or do not express the relationship precisely. Organise each paragraph around one central claim, use clearer topic sentences, and make references such as “which” unambiguous to improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant environmental vocabulary, including “deforestation,” “air pollution,” “ozone depletion,” and “eco-friendly vehicles,” which helps communicate the topic. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “major cause,” “environmental pollution,” and “increase.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “enviornmental,” “incrasing,” “differnce,” and “export harmful gases,” which may make the reader pause. Some collocations are unnatural, such as “living vegetation” and “diagnose with different diseases.” Aim for more precise, natural combinations and vary repeated terms—for example, use “biodiversity loss,” “emissions,” or “air quality” where appropriate. Proofreading spelling and checking collocations would make your meaning clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “although,” “which,” and “for instance.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence boundaries, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “some people argued” shifts tense unnecessarily, while “most of the people diagnose with different diseases” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. Several sentences run together, such as the opening, where a full stop and capital letters are needed. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea and then adding a subordinate clause. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and punctuation carefully before combining ideas into longer structures.
