Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 4.5)

Few people say that the issues of enviromental in current era is decresing in liveing being of plants and animals and some people say that other issues of environmental are important. Decreasing of plants, animals and other issues are more important in environment.

Environmental problem are occurs due to cutting the plants and low gowth of animals. Plants effect the environement in good way and in current situation the growth of plants are decreased and the pollution are increase. If people continouslly cutting the tree and plants which caused the environment effect due to this the atmosphare and claimate is effected badly.

On the other hand, there are also some other reason of envirnmental issues which are effected our lifes like noise pollution and throwing the garbage in roads or streets which are causing the health issuses. It is effect the all over the sorrounding. For example people thowing the waste material in rivers and sea it effect the water species and when people eat the water species it is also effect the humans.

However, the loss of particular species are effect the enironment on the other hand, other problem of environments are also effects in our life. I perfer the both issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both views by discussing declining plant and animal populations and other problems such as noise and waste pollution, and you give a position in “I prefer the both issue.” However, the response only partially fulfils the task: the position is unclear because it does not explain whether one problem is more important or why both should be treated equally. The ideas are also brief and under-developed. For instance, you mention that cutting trees affects the atmosphere and climate, but do not explain the consequences or support this with a specific example. The response is 47 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop both sides. State your opinion clearly and extend each main point with explanation or evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: the opening introduces the topic, the next paragraph discusses plant and animal loss, and “On the other hand” signals a shift to other environmental problems. The example about waste entering rivers also gives one point a little support. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear. The opening repeats the two views without establishing a clear direction, and the final paragraph restates them rather than drawing the discussion together. Linking phrases such as “However” and “on the other hand” are used, but the relationship between ideas is sometimes unclear, as in “However, the loss of particular species are effect the environment on the other hand…” Use one clear topic sentence per paragraph and connect each explanation directly to its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “noise pollution,” “waste material,” “water species,” and “environment,” so the reader can identify the subject of the essay. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “environmental issues” and “effect.” Frequent spelling errors, including “enviromental,” “environement,” and “sorrounding,” make the writing less clear and reduce the accuracy of your vocabulary. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “low growth of animals” and “the environment effect.” Build a more precise set of topic expressions and check spelling carefully. For example, use “declining animal populations” rather than “low growth of animals,” and “harm the environment” rather than “environment effect.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple sentences and longer cause-and-effect structures, for example, “If people continouslly cutting the tree and plants which caused the environment effect…” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but the sentence is difficult to follow because the conditional structure and verb forms are not controlled. Errors are frequent in subject–verb agreement and sentence construction, as in “Environmental problem are occurs” and “the growth of plants are decreased.” Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, including “the tree and plants.” Most sentences need more reliable basic grammar before more complex forms can be used effectively. Practise complete subject–verb patterns, such as “Environmental problems occur” and “plant growth has decreased,” then check each sentence for a clear subject and main verb.
