Student answer (Band 5.0)

People have different views about whether the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals or there are more important environmental problems is better. While both perspectives have their own merits, I believe that loss of particular species of plants and animals is more important because new generation cannot see it and benefits from them is stoped.

On the one hand, Nowadays, some species of plants and animals become Extinct. Main reason for that is environment, in recent decades, climate change, global temprature increase, global warming immition and other human acitivities that affect species to live. Species cannot adopt the anvironment changes and not survive longer. However, plant species provide medicines and other benefical things which will be stop. Moreover, future generations cannot see the species.

For instance, in India tulsi plants become Extinct which utilise for medicines and for other problem. As a result goverment shoud provide proper zoos and safety forest that save species for the future.

On the other hand, others argue that there is more important environment problems like increaseing global temprature, climate change, rise of sea level and melting of snow mountains. One key reason for this is that air pollution. in todays era, increasing rate of vehicles, fectories and urbanisation which realised toxic gases in atmosphere. For example, car, trucks and buses realised carbon dioxide and CFC gases which affect ozone layer that increase global tempreture. As a result, goverment and UN should built new rules and regulation and encourage by new technology like electric vehicles, solar andwind engergies

In conclusion, although both views have valid points, I believe that loss of particular species of plants and animals is more importan because it is advantegous for humans.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both views and state a clear preference in the introduction and conclusion: you consider species loss more important. However, the position is not fully supported, which fits a response where ideas remain limited and under-developed. The explanation that future generations “cannot see the species” and that plants provide medicines is relevant, but the example of tulsi becoming extinct in India is unclear and needs accurate, specific support. The opposing view is also identified through climate change, sea-level rise and pollution, but its wider effects are not explained. Develop each side with a clear reason and a concrete, reliable example, and explain why your chosen problem is more serious. The required length is met; the 33 words copied from the prompt are excluded from the count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because ideas are joined abruptly or their links are unclear. For example, the paragraph about species moves from climate change to medicinal benefits and then to future generations without fully explaining the connections. The example and recommendation about zoos and protected forests also feel detached from the preceding point. Use clearer topic sentences and develop each main idea in a logical sequence; make references such as “them” and “it” unambiguous. This would make the organisation less mechanical and easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant environmental vocabulary, including “climate change,” “global temperature,” “air pollution,” “sea level,” and “carbon dioxide,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to interpret. Examples include “global warming immition,” “Species cannot adopt the anvironment changes,” and “plants become Extinct which utilise for medicines.” These problems are lexical rather than grammatical: the intended terms and meanings are not expressed accurately. Aim for precise, natural phrases such as “adapt to environmental changes,” “release emissions,” and “medicinal plants.” Check spelling and word forms carefully, and avoid using technical terms such as “CFC gases” unless you can explain their relevance accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “While both perspectives…” and a result clause introduced by “As a result.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and verb forms can make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “there are more important environmental problems is better” does not form a grammatical comparison, while “Species cannot adopt the anvironment changes and not survive longer” lacks a correctly formed second verb phrase. In “government and UN should built,” the modal should be followed by the base form “build.” Practise constructing complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, then check agreement and verb forms. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to understand.
