Student answer (Band 5.0)

INTRODUCTION. I srongy believe that loss of particular species of plants and animals is a bid cause to our enviroment. But there are many big other enivroment problems aswell.

Paragraph1. In my opinion loss of plants and animals is a big enviromental cause like in the making of modren cities and buildings we have forgetten that the trees that we are cutting is not right. These trees give us oxygen protect us from sunlight make our city more peaceful and pretty also hunters who are killing animals for their own cause or for selling them if we continue it then there would be no animals left they also have thier family they will extinct like lions, tigers, rhino killing these rare animals will end them forever we can be that cruel so we should save them by planting more trees support mr beast team trees to make our world more greenful and support wildlife animals carecenters who are acually trying to save them.

Paragraph2. Meanwhile i also agree that there are alot of other major probelms like water therw is really few fresh water left and we now even have to pay for it like imagine paying for just drinking water. Also there is major air pollution problem in cities from factories and old cares we shoulf do something for that as well.

In conclusion i would say savinf trees, plants and animals is the right approach but also see that inflation and pollution is causing major problems as well thank you.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views: the first paragraph explains why species loss matters, while the second mentions freshwater scarcity and air pollution. Your position is broadly that wildlife and plants should be protected, while other problems also deserve attention. However, the discussion is only partial: the alternative environmental problems receive little explanation, and examples such as paying for drinking water are not developed with evidence or consequences. The conclusion introduces inflation, which is not clearly connected to the environmental question, and “thank you” is unsuitable in an academic essay. The response is 241 words, so it is 9 words below the 250-word minimum; the 8 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop both sides more fully and keep the conclusion focused on your environmental position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the paragraph topics broadly follow the task: species loss first, then other environmental problems. “Meanwhile” helps signal the shift to the second view. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because several points are joined into long strings, especially the first body paragraph, which moves from city construction to trees, hunting, extinction and conservation groups without clear separation. Linking is also limited and sometimes mechanical, with repeated “also” and “but.” The conclusion adds inflation rather than drawing together the environmental arguments. Use shorter, clearly focused paragraphs and connect each claim to its explanation or example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant environmental vocabulary, including “fresh water,” “air pollution,” “factories,” “wildlife” and “extinct,” so the reader can identify the main subject. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, such as “big” and “problems.” Frequent spelling errors—including “enviroment,” “modren” and “prob elms” (written as “probelms”)—make the writing less clear and reduce accuracy. Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “greenful” and “wildlife animals carecenters.” Choose more precise topic vocabulary, check spelling carefully, and use natural collocations. For example, “loss of particular species” could be expressed as “species extinction,” and “big other environmental problems” as “other pressing environmental issues.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to express connected ideas and give reasons, for example by explaining that trees provide oxygen and shade. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and attempts to combine several clauses often produce run-on sentences. In the first body paragraph, multiple ideas are joined without full stops or clear punctuation, making relationships between claims difficult to follow. There are also frequent errors in sentence construction and agreement, as in “the trees that we are cutting is not right” and “there is really few fresh water left.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and missing commas in lists. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles and punctuation.
