Student answer (Band 5.5)

I'm fully aligned with the topic, that we have environmental programs, but not totally aligned with main problem is the loss of particular species. Environment plays most important role in human civilization, this include forest, rivers, mountains, ponds, lakes, sands & dusts and climate.

The loss of particular species are depends on various factors like global warming, rapid expansions, changes in lifestyle of living beings etc. Millions years ago a strange objects from space entered into earth which ends the entire species of Dinosaurous and there is no role of environmental problems at all.

Yes, I'm totally agree that we have lost species whether it is plant or animals but it is not due to change in enviromental conditions sometimes it is due intervention human beings. For example, in India Royal Bengal tiger counts is around 5000 in 2002 vs 6752 in 2012, so the increase in their over popullation is due to strict norms on hunting of the tiger, awaring local tribal community about protection of species, creating dedicated natural wild life sanctuary.

In zimbawe, the government created a NGO which main purpose to preserve current species, while finding the lost one. Similar kind of project is started in Vantara, Jamnagar Gujrat, India. They have dedicated experts including scienist, researchers, scholors, interns & subject matter experts.

In conlusion, I will say the main enviromental problem is not the loss of species, but its part of one big problem. Rapid urbanisation, Aforestation, pollution of rivers & airs, melting of glaciers, irregular monsoons, over constructions and many more.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall view that species loss is one part of a wider environmental problem, and you include relevant examples such as tiger protection in India and conservation projects. However, the discussion of the two views is uneven. The paragraph about species loss mainly argues that human intervention, rather than environmental change, can affect populations; it does not fully explain why species loss is considered a major environmental problem. The alternative view is listed in the conclusion—urbanisation, pollution and melting glaciers—but these issues are not developed or compared in the body. The dinosaur example is also not clearly connected to the present-day debate. Explain both positions directly, then support your opinion with a more focused reason and example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion, and the examples are generally grouped by topic. However, progression between ideas is not consistently clear. The opening lists environmental features without establishing the essay’s argument, while the paragraph about the dinosaur extinction shifts abruptly from species loss to a historical event. The Zimbabwe and Vantara examples are presented without explaining how they support the comparison of environmental problems. Linking phrases such as “Yes” and “In conclusion” provide basic signposting, but relationships between claims need to be made explicit. Use one paragraph for each view, connect each example to its main point, and ensure the conclusion follows from the discussion rather than introducing a list of new issues.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “global warming,” “urbanisation,” “pollution,” “glaciers” and “species,” which helps communicate the general subject. There are also attempts at more specific terms such as “dedicated natural wildlife sanctuary.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unclear, including “rapid expansions,” “over population,” “awaring,” and “Aforestation.” Phrases such as “environmental programs” and “part of one big problem” are broad and do not express the argument precisely. Spelling errors such as “Dinosaurous,” “zimbawe,” and “conlusion” also affect the overall impression. Build a more precise environmental vocabulary and check spelling and collocations; for example, distinguish habitat loss, species decline and conservation measures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the reader can usually identify your main points. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer clauses. For example, “The loss of particular species are depends” has problems with subject–verb agreement and verb construction, while “Environment plays most important role” is missing an article. “I'm totally agree” uses an incorrect verb pattern, and “the government created a NGO which main purpose” has errors in article use and clause structure. Some sentences are fragments or lack a clear grammatical connection, particularly the final list of environmental problems. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and complete sentence construction before adding more complex clauses.
