Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people believe that the major environmental problem of this time is the decrease of particular species of plants and animals. While others believe that there are more crucial environmental problems. From my perspective, human created issue like traffic congestion is also one of the most significant reson behind the environmental problem alongside loss of plants and animals.

On the one hand,Many people argue that the loss of particular species of plants and animals is one of the most significant environmental issue. This is because plants and animals are crucial for our environment and ecosystem.Tree give us oxygen and insects help farmers for agricultural work. For example,if tree cuts down and hunt all the beneficial insects from our nature it causes environmental issues.

On the other hand, some people believe that there are others environmental problems such as traffic congestion which is created by human activity. Most of the time human being are responsible for environmental problems because People use private vehicles more than public transport, consequently more carbon dioxide has been released into the atmosphere. It causes many pollution for instance, traffic congestion made air pollution, sound pollution and so on which may affects our environment directly.

In my opinion, most of the environment issues are human created because people cut tree to construct their building and use more private car to create traffic congestion without thinking it's may faced environment challenges for long term.

In conclusion, Although decrease of specific species of plants and animals is one of the main issue for environmental problems while human created traffic congestion, air pollution, sound pollution is also a significant reason of environmental problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a personal position: you discuss species loss, then human-related problems such as traffic congestion, and conclude that both matter. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The explanation that trees provide oxygen and insects support farming is relevant, but the example about cutting trees and hunting insects is unclear and not fully explained. The traffic section gives several effects, yet it does not compare their importance with species loss in much depth. Your opinion is present, although it shifts from traffic congestion in the introduction to a broader claim about human-caused problems in the conclusion. Develop each view with a clearer example and explain why you consider one problem more significant, if that is your position. (The response meets the task’s length requirement; 9 words copied from the prompt were not counted.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the main direction easy to follow. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help distinguish the viewpoints, but connections within sentences are sometimes awkward or mechanical. For example, the opening “Many people believe… While others believe…” separates a contrast that should be joined into one sentence, and the conclusion repeats several points without synthesising them. Some references, such as “It causes many pollution,” do not clearly identify the cause or effect. Use linking words more selectively, connect examples explicitly to the claims they support, and make the conclusion restate your position more precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “ecosystem,” “carbon dioxide,” “traffic congestion,” and “air pollution,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. Phrases such as “human created issue,” “more crucial environmental problems,” and “causes many pollution” are not natural in this context; “environmental issues” and “pollution” are also repeated. There are spelling errors, including “reson,” and some expressions are imprecise, such as “beneficial insects from our nature.” Build a more accurate set of topic collocations and vary repeated terms, while checking spelling and whether nouns are countable or uncountable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure with “because” and a result clause introduced by “consequently.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. For example, “Tree give us oxygen” has a singular/plural agreement problem, while “if tree cuts down” lacks the correct passive construction. The opening fragment beginning “While others believe” should be joined to the preceding sentence. There are also errors in “which may affects” and “it’s may faced,” where the verb forms are faulty. Practise accurate clause construction and subject–verb agreement, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
