Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views: the first body paragraph explains why species loss matters, while the second introduces pollution and forest clearance as wider environmental concerns. You also give a position in the conclusion, stating that other environmental factors are more important. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The first view is supported mainly by general claims about plants and animals, and the suggested actions are not clearly connected to why extinction is the main problem. The second view has more specific support, such as chemicals entering rivers and effects on health, but the comparison between the two views remains limited. Make your opinion clear in the introduction and explain more fully why you consider one set of problems more serious.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the other hand” and “To conclude” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from endangered species to conservation actions without fully explaining the link, and the second combines pollution, disease, and deforestation in a crowded sequence. Some linking is repetitive or mechanical, and references such as “that animal” and “these species” are not always precise. Use clearer topic sentences and organise each paragraph around one main point, followed by explanation and a relevant example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “extinction,” “endangered,” “pollution,” “chemicals,” and “climate,” and some choices show an effort to use more formal language, such as “pivotal.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make meaning harder to follow. Examples include “huge rule” for the role species play, “distinct species” where “different species” or “specific species” is intended, and “hazards effect” instead of “harmful effects.” Spelling errors such as “disscus,” “chemoicals,” and “poblems” also reduce clarity. Build a bank of accurate environmental collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You try to form longer sentences and use clauses to explain causes and effects, for example, the sentence about chemicals entering rivers and creating health problems. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries. Examples include “other people believes,” “there is a numerous other vital problems,” and “the number of distinct species are.” Several sentences also run together, particularly in the paragraph beginning “On the other hand,” making relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “which,” or “as a result.” Check subject–verb agreement and punctuation in every sentence.
