Student answer (Band 5.5)
Opinions aee divided among people about the what cause the main environment problems. some people say that it is because of loss of particular species of plants and animals of our time. While other say that there are more important environmental problems.I believe there are more important problems which contribute significantly than some extend species.
Environmental problems are one the main concern for mankind because it not only effect animals but other living being as well. The most highlighted problem is the pollution which causes great damage to the environment. One of the great pollution is the emission of dangerous gases from vehicles and industries which effect our ozone layer which lead to temperature rise and causes natural disaster.
For instance, the high rise temperature which happening because of ozone thinning is leading to glaciers defrosting, disturbing the oceans levels due to which many countries are facing frequent tsunamis and floods.
Although some species of plants and animals facing threats of being extended and some are already, it is not because of environment but other brutal reasons.
For instance, illegal hunting of animals particularly, the white rhinos, for its tooth. Moreover people often capture magnificent birds so they can sell them for huge prices such as capturing some migrating birds which also leads to the reason of their extinction.
In conclusion, i believe the environmental problem main issue is pollution that has been effecting our environment by various means which also becoming reason to disturbed the natural ecosystem that leading to loss of many great species and causing the bigger problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear view that pollution is more important, and you include relevant examples such as vehicle and industrial emissions, illegal rhino hunting, and capturing birds. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the species-loss argument is only briefly covered; it is also weakened by the claim that species loss is “not because of environment,” despite your later link between pollution and species decline. The pollution discussion has some explanation, but the causal claims about ozone thinning, tsunamis and floods need more accurate support. The response contains 245 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum; the 16 words copied from the prompt are excluded. Develop both sides more fully and make your position consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on pollution, a paragraph on species loss, and a conclusion. Examples generally follow the points they illustrate, and linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Although,” and “Moreover” help signal relationships. However, progression between the two views is not always clear: the sentence beginning “Although some species…” shifts abruptly from pollution to extinction, and the contrast is not fully explained. Some connections are also difficult to follow, particularly the chain from ozone thinning to tsunamis and floods. The conclusion repeats the pollution position but does not clearly synthesise the discussion. Use clearer topic sentences and make each cause-and-effect link explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant environmental vocabulary, including “emission,” “ozone layer,” “illegal hunting,” “migrating birds,” and “extinction,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “dangerous gases” and “natural ecosystem.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or awkward, as in “high rise temperature,” “glaciers defrosting,” “oceans levels,” and “for its tooth.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “aee,” “effecting,” and “extended” where extinction is intended, further reduce precision. Build a more reliable set of environmental collocations and check spelling and word forms so that your meaning is consistently clear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which causes great damage” and a concessive opening with “Although.” These attempts show some range, but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently. Examples include “the main environment problems,” “it not only effect animals,” and “which lead to temperature rise,” where agreement and verb forms are inaccurate. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent: the opening uses a fragment beginning “While,” and several sentences run together without spaces after full stops. Articles, plurals and sentence construction need careful attention. Practise building accurate sentences first, then extend them with subordinate clauses and check agreement and punctuation.
