Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people opine that, nowadays, the loss of species of animals and plants is the specific problem related to environment, whereas others postulate that, few other environmental problems are important. So, in the forthcoming paragraphs, I have disscused both the views and, I have included my stand at the end.

On the one hand, in this modern era, forest destruction and land clearation is much common for building homes and apartments. This destruction leads to less habitat of native aminals and loss of biodiversity, which can affect our ecosystem in which several animals and birds have difficulty for making their nests and finding food for living. If the loss of plants and animals increasing with time, so people have to face many difficulties such as lack of food resources, sort of animals in zoos, which can helps our future to aquire knowledge by seeing them in reality instead of search on social media.

On the other hand, there are few problems can also affect our environment for instance, polluted rivers and air pollution by vehicles. Most of rivers and lakes becoming useless due to littering them by people. Also the increasing rate of pollution occur by vehicles is a major issue. Almost people prefer private vehicle for traveling one place to another place even for short distastance. Instead using private vehicle, people should travel by bus and other public vehicles can less pollute the environment and decrease the production of harmful gases.

In my opinion, people should try to find out places, which are already not in use and better for constructing buildings. Moreover, people should maintain their surroundings clean and also stop others, who littering anywhere. It can be a small step for saving our crucial environment.

To conclude, nowadays, it deforestration and logging trees for personal benefit is very common. It can leads to several problems to animals for survival and vanishing of plants. However, pollution on roads by vehicles and littering rivers can also included in environmental causes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views by discussing species loss and other environmental concerns, and you give a personal position in the paragraph beginning “In my opinion.” The examples of habitat destruction, polluted waterways and vehicle emissions are relevant. However, the discussion is uneven: the consequences of species loss are partly explained, while the alternative problems receive less development, and the proposed solutions are not clearly connected to a sustained argument about which problem is more important. Your position also remains somewhat general; the conclusion lists problems but does not clearly restate your judgement about their relative importance. Develop each view with a specific example and explain why your opinion follows from that comparison.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the discussion. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “If the loss of plants and animals increasing with time, so…” combines an incomplete conditional with an awkward result, making the relationship harder to follow. The opinion paragraph introduces solutions without clearly linking them back to the comparison in the task, and the conclusion repeats earlier points rather than synthesising them. Use clearer references and transitions to show how each example supports your overall position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of environmental vocabulary, including “loss of biodiversity,” “habitat,” “littering,” and “harmful gases,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more formal wording, such as “opine” and “postulate,” but these sound unnatural in this context and do not always improve precision. Several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems are noticeable, including “land clearation,” “sort of animals,” “distastance,” and “deforestration.” Some phrases, such as “pollution on roads by vehicles,” are also imprecise. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than unusually formal synonyms, and check spelling and word forms carefully. This would make your meaning clearer and your vocabulary more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “which” and conditional structures, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to read. For example, “If the loss of plants and animals increasing with time” is missing a finite verb, while “there are few problems can also affect” incorrectly combines structures. Subject–verb agreement and verb forms are also problematic in “pollution occur” and “It can leads.” Punctuation is sometimes awkward, particularly the comma before “I have included my stand.” Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them using conjunctions and relative clauses; check agreement and verb forms in each sentence.
