Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people argue that nowadays rising issue in ecosystem is extinct of many plants and animals, while other believe that there are also other environmental issues. I believe that it is important to save species that will also help to overcomes other problems such as carbon dioxide in are will be reduced by plants. This essay will discuss both the views and my opinion in following paragraphs.
People who believe that preserving extinct species of plants and animals is main issue of this days, because some species in plant is very useful in making medicine that help to cure diseases like cancer. In addition, there is also fear of many animals that will be extinct in future, because of hunting and animals and plants are the main elements of bio-diversity cycles, we have protect them by keeping them safe. As a result, by saving this particular species of plants and animals will helps nature to maintain the system, because they are part of ecosystems.
On other hand individuals who believe that there more crucial issue are there such as rising concern of air pollution by vehicles and industries, sound pollution, water pollution, soil pollution etc. This type pollution are rising in metro cities day by day under the name of development, but it has directly affect of peoples healths. For example, due to release of harmful gases such as carbon dioxide and carbon-mono oxide in air causing problem related to breathing, people are not getting fresh oxygen. Consequently, due to this kind of pollution have direct on people daily life.
In conclusion, although there are other issue in environment such as air pollution, water pollution and soil pollution, I believe that we can overcome all this issue by maintaining our ecosystem. Because all this other issues are man made and if we want reduce them we have to balance our ecosystem, so we have save particular species of plants and animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear position: you argue that protecting species can also help address wider environmental problems. The two body paragraphs are relevant, with examples involving medicinal plants, hunting, and pollution from vehicles and industry. However, the discussion is unevenly developed. The case for species protection is supported with reasons, but the claim that ecosystem balance can overcome pollution is asserted rather than explained; pollution is also described broadly, without showing how biodiversity would reduce these different forms of pollution. Develop the relationship between your opinion and the opposing view more carefully, and add a specific example or explanation to support your conclusion. This would make the response more fully developed across all parts of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from species loss to other forms of pollution is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On other hand” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. However, several connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “As a result” introduces a point that largely repeats the preceding claim, while “Consequently” does not clearly show how the pollution example leads to the stated effect. Use referencing and linking more precisely, and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “bio-diversity,” “ecosystems,” “air pollution,” and “harmful gases,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “medicinal” ideas expressed through the example of plants used to make medicine. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “rising issue in ecosystem,” “extinct of many plants,” and “sound pollution.” Some errors make the intended meaning less precise, as in “carbon dioxide in are will be reduced.” Aim to learn common environmental collocations and use accurate forms such as “species extinction,” “noise pollution,” and “reduce carbon dioxide levels.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “although,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. Examples include “other believe” and “there more crucial issue are there,” where subject–verb agreement and sentence structure are faulty, and “we have protect them,” which needs a correctly formed verb pattern. Articles and plurals are also often inaccurate, as in “the main issue of this days” and “other issue.” Some sentences combine several ideas without clear grammatical links, making them difficult to follow. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them using conjunctions; check agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation during revision.
