Student answer (Band 5.5)

it is argud that whether loss of biodiversity is most pressing environmental issue or whether other problems like climtr change and pollution are more significant. This essay will discuess both views ang argue that while species extinction is serious, or other environmental threats are more critical.

Many people think that loss ot particular species of fiura and funa is the most biggest reason of environmental changes because it disrupts ecosystem and it also cause break down of food chain. For example, if bees become extinct ,plants won't be pollinated. The productionof fruits and vegetables may decreased , this could disturb the natural balance of the environment and reduce biodiversity. Furthermore, numerous plant species are used for mrdicines, if these plants are disappeared , the research may loss, which have a negative effect ecology.

Moreover, climate changes is one of the huge issue like Global warming is affecting the whole earth , the sea level rise which cause floods . Similarly , Pollution is also a mojor effect for environmental threat. For instance, air and land pollution in the famous cities of Pakistand like Lahore and Karchi, are the major environmental degradation. Pollution not only cause many diseases but also directly affect human health. Species loss is often a result of there bigger problems. if we control there issue we will able tosave species.

In conclusion, although biodiversity loss is alarming yet global warming and pollution pose a more immediate and far-reaching threat to both humans and nature , so they should be prioritized.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear opinion: species loss is serious, but climate change and pollution are more far-reaching. The examples about bees and pollination, medicinal plants, and pollution in Lahore and Karachi make the discussion relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The biodiversity paragraph explains consequences, while the case for climate change and pollution is asserted more briefly; for example, “sea level rise” and health effects are mentioned without explaining their wider environmental impact. The claim that species loss is “often a result” of these larger problems is useful, but needs support. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or example to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on biodiversity, a paragraph on other environmental threats, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening of the second body paragraph moves quickly from climate change to pollution, and “Species loss is often a result of there bigger problems” would connect more smoothly if the relationship were explained. Some sentence boundaries and spacing also interrupt the flow, such as the comma splice after “vegetables may decreased” and the run-on sequence about global warming and sea levels. Use clearer transitions between related points and check punctuation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt relevant topic vocabulary, including “biodiversity,” “ecosystem,” “food chain,” “pollinated,” “sea level,” and “environmental degradation.” These choices show an effort to discuss the issue specifically. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are frequent enough to make some phrases difficult to read, including “argud,” “climtr,” “fiura and funa,” and “mrdicines.” There are also awkward or incorrect collocations, such as “the most biggest reason,” “huge issue,” and “major environmental degradation.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and proofread spelling carefully. A more precise vocabulary range would help you express the environmental causes and consequences without relying on broad terms such as “effect” and “issue.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional example (“if bees become extinct, plants won't be pollinated”) and a contrast structure in the conclusion. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly in verb agreement, tense, and clause construction. Examples include “it also cause,” “the sea level rise which cause floods,” and “the research may loss.” Some sentences combine independent clauses incorrectly, as in “The production of fruits and vegetables may decreased, this could disturb…” Articles and plural forms also need attention. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the main meaning is generally recoverable. Practise building accurate sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each verb against its subject.
