Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people believe that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say that there are more important envrionmental problems.
We have lost a variety of special species including plants and animals because of non serious behaviour obout any of these issues. Plants are necessary for envriomental health. Since genrations, humans are destryng jungles and green belts without any hasitation and using wood for different puposes. They are ignoring the outcomes like they will not face any consicuences because of this madness. This is the one part of pollution and envriomental problem.
The other problem is plastic. We humans are using plastic in our daily life and after using we through it in trash. Plastic is a non biodegradable material which really bad for the envrionment. Humans throughing plastic everywhere on earth. I think cutting trees is really horrible for envroment but throughing plastic on earth as trash including ocean and rivers is worse than others. It is the major cause of pollution which is greater than the loss of trees and animal species.
I myslef have been realtime witness of these problems. I saw trash everywhere as I belonged to underdeveloped area in pakistan where people through trash outside and use a lot of polithene bags which make the problem more bigger. I have been migrated more than once from my home to different cities because of floods. Every year there is a flood come to the population area and destroy many things including our houses in pakistan. Flood is one of the main problems causes from pollution. Governemnts in all countries should focus on this matter and ban the use of plastic in every department.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views by discussing the loss of species and presenting plastic pollution as a more serious problem, and your opinion is clear: plastic waste is worse. The personal example of flooding in Pakistan also gives the response a relevant real-world connection. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The first view focuses mainly on cutting trees and does not explain clearly how this causes the loss of particular animal and plant species. The link between pollution and floods is asserted rather than explained, and the response does not compare the wider effects of the two problems in much detail. Develop each view with a specific cause-and-effect explanation and support your position with a more precise example. The 25 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: it introduces the issue, discusses species loss, turns to plastic, and ends with personal experience and a recommendation. This makes the main points identifiable. However, progression between ideas is not always clear. For example, the paragraph about plastic shifts from litter to a comparison with tree loss, while the final paragraph moves from personal experience to floods and then government policy without fully connecting these points. Linking phrases such as “The other problem” and “I think” are repetitive or do not show the precise relationship between ideas. Organise the discussion into clearer stages—one paragraph for each view, followed by a conclusion—and use referencing and transitions to make cause, contrast, and consequence explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “species,” “non biodegradable,” “pollution,” “floods,” and “ban,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less clear or natural. Examples include “non serious behaviour,” “through it in trash,” “make the problem more bigger,” and repeated misspellings such as “envriomental” and “Governemnts.” Some phrases are also imprecise: “special species” does not clearly convey the intended meaning, and “one part of pollution” is unclear. Build a more accurate environmental vocabulary and check spelling carefully; choose precise phrases such as “endangered species,” “dispose of plastic,” and “environmental damage.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the sentence beginning “Since generations” and the clause “because of floods.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. For example, “Plastic is a non biodegradable material which really bad” is missing a verb, while “Every year there is a flood come” combines incompatible structures. Other problems include “I have been migrated,” “the main problems causes,” and “I belonged to underdeveloped area,” which show difficulties with verb forms, agreement, and articles. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear main clause, then add subordinate clauses only when their grammar is secure. Review past and present forms and subject–verb agreement.
