Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, environmental problem is a serious concern across society. Many individuals argue that the main environmental problem is the loss of specific plants and animals species, while other believe that other enviromental challenges like climate change and green house effect are serious problem.I believe that plants and animals are important to our environment, but other factors like green house effect have strong threat to our entire planet.
On the other hand, plants and animals are crucial for our ecosystem. A loss of any species of plants or animals can broke down the food chain. For instance, other animals that depend on these species are also died.Furthermore, some people have strong emotions to wildlife. The extints of iconic animals species like tiger or pandas means loss of natural beauty for future generations.
On the other hand, many people brlieve that there are some other major problems to our planet. Greenhouse effect, climate change and deforestrration can damage not only wildlife but also effect to human survival. Climate change can cause increase in heat temperaure it will rise sea level, drought and effect big cities and cause food shortage. Moreover, release of CO2 gass from cars, industry and household kitchen cause greenhouse effect which effect ozone gas depelction and it cause cancer and skin problem in animals. Therefore, tackling there problems should be our first priorities.
In conclusion, although loss of plants or animal species can disturb natural balance, but other certain problems like climate change and green house effect can damage to entire problem. Therefore, government should take effective measure and educate people abot environmental protection.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a position: species loss matters, but you consider climate change and related threats more serious overall. Relevant support includes the effect of species loss on food chains and the risks of rising sea levels, drought and food shortages. However, several points are asserted rather than clearly explained. For example, the link between greenhouse gases, ozone depletion and cancer is presented inaccurately or without support, which weakens the argument. The discussion of species loss is also brief, and the conclusion introduces government action without developing it in the main argument. To strengthen the response, explain each key cause-and-effect link accurately and compare more directly why one set of problems is more urgent than the other.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the discussion, and transitions such as “Furthermore” and “Therefore” signal additions and results. However, both body paragraphs begin with “On the other hand,” even though the first develops the species-loss view rather than contrasting with the preceding point. Some ideas are crowded together, particularly the long sentence about climate change, rising temperatures, sea levels and food shortages. The conclusion also repeats the main contrast rather than drawing the comparison together. Use transitions according to the relationship between ideas, and divide complex explanations into clearer sentences with explicit links.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “ecosystem,” “food chain,” “climate change,” “deforestation” and “food shortage,” so the subject is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “natural balance” and “future generations.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning harder to follow: “extints,” “brlieve,” “deforestrration” and “depelction” are examples. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “strong threat” and “effect to human survival.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common environmental collocations, rather than relying on broad or repeated terms such as “problem” and “effect.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, for example, “although loss of plants or animal species can disturb natural balance…” This shows some range, but complex sentences are often not controlled, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the argument difficult to read. Examples include “A loss … can broke down,” “other animals … are also died,” and “Climate change can cause increase in heat temperaure it will rise sea level,” where verb forms, sentence boundaries and clause structure are faulty. There are also recurring agreement and article problems, as in “other believe” and “the main environmental problem.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and separate independent clauses with appropriate punctuation.
