Student answer (Band 6.5)

Certain individuals contend that the primary environmental issue at the moment is the reduction of specific species of plants and animals. Other argue that other environmental challenges are crucial. In this essay i will discuss both these views and state my own opinion.

To begin with, environmental conditions are deteriorating at an alarming rate, resulting in detrimental consequences. A number of species of both the plants and animals are facing adverse effects because some species are very sensitive and when any sort of abrupt changes occur in environment, they suffer badly. Due to which, several species of plants and animals has been extincted over time. Subsequently, all these species play a pivot role in driving ecosystem so if they disappear, the whole world will suffer. For instance, bees in the USA are disappearing because of environmental changes and now the USA is experiencing a major crop downfall and requires a labour worforce to grow crops because bees used to pollinate a lot of seeds anually.

On the other hand, other environmental challenges such as pollution, climate change, and many more are more essential issues to consider because these problems have a far more bad effects than lossing any plants and animals. Furthermore, these problems are causing several health issues such as asthma, cancer, and many other skin problems. To illustrate, some cities in asia conqurer the list of pollution every year with significantally higer index and the individuals in those cities suffer badly and do not want to live there any more. Moreover, depletion of the ozone layer is affecting agriculture wordwide that results in unavailability and expensiveness of food.

To conclude, in my opinion other environmental problems such as pollution, climate change and many more are more concerning and we ought to give them priority. When we will attempt to alleviate these problems, consequently, all the problems associated with the species of both the plants and animals will be improved.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a clear opinion: you argue that pollution and climate change deserve greater priority, while also explaining why species loss matters. The examples about bees and pollution-related health problems help make the discussion relevant. This meets the task well, and the position is clear in the introduction and conclusion. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the first paragraph makes broad claims about ecosystem effects, while the bee example’s link between declining bee numbers and crop production needs clearer explanation. The second view would also benefit from a more precise comparison of the scale or consequences of these problems. To strengthen the response further, explain how the examples support your judgement and develop the relationship between environmental problems and species loss.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow. You also use cause-and-effect links, including “because” and “Furthermore,” to connect supporting points. This is a logical and generally well-organised response. At times, however, links feel mechanical or the relationship between ideas is not fully clear. For example, “Due to which” begins a sentence fragment, and the move from ozone depletion to food availability needs a more explicit explanation. Use cohesive devices more selectively and make the links between claims and examples precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “environmental challenges,” “ecosystem,” “pollinate,” “depletion of the ozone layer,” and “alleviate.” These choices show an effort to discuss environmental issues beyond basic terms, and the overall meaning remains understandable. However, several word choices, collocations, and spelling forms are inaccurate or awkward, such as “a far more bad effects,” “lossing,” “conqurer,” “significantally higer,” and “labour worforce.” Some phrases, including “pivot role” and “crop downfall,” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Aim for accurate, conventional combinations and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more precise and help your less common terms sound controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, using subordinate clauses and cause-and-effect structures, as in “because some species are very sensitive” and “if they disappear, the whole world will suffer.” This gives the essay some structural variety, and most errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points. However, some grammatical errors remain, including “Other argue” instead of a plural verb, “species … has” instead of “have,” and “When we will attempt” where the future form is not appropriate after “when.” “Due to which” is also an incomplete sentence, and article and plural choices need more consistent control. Review subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, and check each complex sentence for a complete main clause.
