Student answer (Band 5.5)
In todays morern era, environmental problems are becoming more dangerous. Some individuals says that this happens because of the extinction of plants and animals. However, other believes that there are more environmental causes.
To begin with, plants and animals are very important to save our environment and their extinction also causes the environment. Firstly, food chain breaks from the loss of plants and animals. Due to this, our environment cannot make a good balance. Also reducing of plants prevents rain to come to ground. This is believe that plants are very helpful to get rain. Furthermore, plants have such kinds of nutritions and herbs to make medicines and it also helps animals to get food into that plants. If it will extinct, the sources of food and medicine may stop to produce more. This also harms the environmental factors.
Apart from that, there are more factors are causes the environment. Firstly, pollution is one of the main and major issue of the whole nations. it creates most of the environmental problems. Also it harms the water by spoiling harmful chamicals and liquids that produces from mills and factories. This harms the bio diversity and also the humans who uses that harmful water.
In my opinion, environmental problems such as pollution is very considerable in order to reduce it and save the earth. Loss of plants and animals is not very important to create environmental problems.
To conclude, environmental problems such as pollution is very harmful. It must be reduced in order to protect the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a clear opinion that pollution is more important, so the response is relevant to the task. The discussion of species loss includes several pertinent effects, such as disruption to the food chain and the loss of potential medicines; the pollution paragraph also identifies harm to water, biodiversity and people. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the claim that plants help bring rain is asserted rather than explained, and the pollution discussion focuses mainly on contaminated water without considering other major environmental problems. Your conclusion repeats your position but does not draw together the comparison. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or specific example to make the response more complete and convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “Apart from that” help readers follow the discussion. This coherent arrangement supports the argument, although connections between some ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, “This also harms the environmental factors” does not clearly show how the preceding point about food and medicine relates to environmental harm. The opinion paragraph also introduces pollution again rather than explicitly comparing it with species loss. Use referencing that clearly identifies what “this” refers to, and link each supporting point to the paragraph’s main claim. A more comparative transition would strengthen progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “extinction,” “food chain,” “pollution,” “chemicals,” and “biodiversity,” which allows you to discuss the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “the environment cannot make a good balance,” “reducing of plants,” and “harmful water”; more precise phrasing would be “ecosystems lose their balance,” “the decline in plant populations,” and “contaminated water.” Spelling errors such as “morern,” “believe,” and “chamicals” also affect accuracy. Build a bank of environmental collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make your ideas clearer and more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses to explain causes and effects, for example, “If it will extinct, the sources of food and medicine may stop to produce more.” However, the conditional and verb patterns in this sentence are faulty, and similar errors occur throughout. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “Some individuals says” and “other believes”; there are also problems with sentence construction in “there are more factors are causes the environment.” Articles, plurals and punctuation need attention as well, including the lowercase “it” after a full stop. Most sentences rely on simple patterns, while attempts at more complex structures are not yet controlled. Practise accurate agreement and conditional forms, then check each sentence for a complete, correctly punctuated structure.
