Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is commonly seen that, many people believe that the main enviromental concern of our time is species loss while others say there are more significant enviromental issues. Although problems such as deforestration, rapid industrilisation causes threat to the plants and animals species, global warning and pollution are also important concerns. I believe other issues need to be focused along with species loss.
To start with, Advancement in science and technology in developing nations leads to development of big industries. Although that construction provides benefit to country by generating employment opportunities for youth and economical growth, many plants and animal suffers due to this. For example, In maharashtra, government wants to build solar based project in some part of bhimashankar forest which is famous for different species of animals and birds. they started cutting the trees but many communities came forward to save the forest by the means of protection of living species.
On the other hand, there is enviromental concerns such as climate change and pollution, which also needs to be focused. Industrilisation and automobile revolution contrituting to the pollution by the means of burning fuel and carbon emittion. It affects human health. Another major issue is global warning raise the concern for farmers. for instance, In maharashra, many areas are facing the drought situation, their is not enough water supply to farms which my cause food shortage problem. If situation get worse ,clean drinking water will also become a major issue because many rivers are polluted with industrial gases and water.
To conclude, I strongly believe Although species loss is significant enviromental concern, pollution and climate change issue which leads to drought situation needs to be focused, As it wiil arise other problems such as food and water shortage which is basic need of human life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both views and gives a clear opinion: species loss matters, but pollution and climate change also require attention. The two body paragraphs are relevant, and the Maharashtra examples help illustrate habitat loss and drought. This meets the task well overall. However, the discussion is uneven: the first view is mainly explained through one forest-development example, while the broader case for other environmental problems is more developed through pollution, drought, and possible food and water shortages. Some claims would benefit from clearer explanation—for example, how the proposed solar project threatens particular species, or how polluted rivers relate to the stated water shortage. Developing these links and comparing the seriousness of the problems more explicitly would make the argument more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates the writer’s position. Transitions such as “To start with,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow. The examples are generally placed in the relevant paragraphs. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. In the first body paragraph, the shift from industrial development to the solar project is not fully explained, and “Although that construction” has an unclear reference. The final paragraph also repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. Use clearer links between cause and effect, and vary transitions and referencing so the organisation feels less formulaic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses relevant environmental vocabulary, including “species loss,” “deforestation,” “climate change,” “pollution,” “drought,” and “food shortage.” These terms allow the reader to understand the main ideas, and there are attempts at more specific language such as “employment opportunities” and “carbon emission.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations are noticeable, including “enviromental,” “global warning,” “automobile revolution,” and “by the means of.” Some word choices also reduce precision, such as “plants and animal suffers” and “industrial gases” when discussing river pollution. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations in context; more accurate phrasing would make the argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There is some variety in sentence structure, including complex forms with “Although,” “which,” and “because,” and the main message remains understandable. However, attempts at longer sentences are often weakened by errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries. For example, “many plants and animal suffers” has a number-agreement problem, while “global warning raise the concern” has an incorrect verb form. The opening sentence also places a comma after “seen” that interrupts the structure, and the conclusion begins “I strongly believe Although” without appropriate punctuation or clause structure. Practise building accurate complex sentences, then check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation before adding further clauses.
