Student answer (Band 5.0)

Today world faces the environment problems. In many countries, some people believed that the main environment problem is loss of particular type of plants and animals at that time. While the other people say that many other enviornment problems are more important than that problem. I partly agree with both views and i blieve that envoirnment polluytion and climate change are more important problem.

On the one hand, plants and animals are more important and their loss is a big problem. It is true that envoirnment is effecting them badly. The animals and plants are also participate in envoirnment. For example, if animals like butterflys and beeds were died the plants are loss their beauti and hard to their growth.

On the other hand, people are right that there are more important envoirmental problems such as climate change and envoirnment pollution beacause these problems effect not only the one organism. The vehicles caused the climate change because they reduse the many dengrous gasses. For example, if cars reduse the gasses it effect both organisms.

To conclude, i agreed with the view other problems are more important than loss of particular species of plants and animals. The climate change and envoirnment pollution is more important envoirnment issues because it effect all the world organisms. We should protect the animals and plants but also envoirnment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both views and state a position: you partly agree, then conclude that climate change and pollution are more important. However, the response only partially develops the task. The first view is supported by a brief example about butterflies and bees, but the explanation that their loss affects plant growth is unclear. The second view names climate change and pollution, yet the example about vehicles and gases is difficult to follow and does not clearly explain their effects. Your conclusion repeats your opinion rather than extending it. The response is 215 words, so it is 35 words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop each view with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help readers identify the stages of your argument. However, progression within the body paragraphs is limited, and some links between ideas are unclear. For instance, the connection between the death of butterflies and bees and plants losing their beauty or struggling to grow needs to be explained more logically. The vehicle example also does not clearly connect reduced gases with climate change. Build each paragraph around one main point, then explain and illustrate it; use references such as “this loss” or “these emissions” to make connections clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “species,” “climate change,” “pollution,” and “organism,” so the reader can identify the subject of your argument. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “environment problems,” “plants are loss their beauti,” and “reduce the many dangerous gasses.” Repetition of “important” and “environment” also limits variety. Aim for accurate topic phrases and check spelling carefully; for example, use “environmental problems,” “plants lose their beauty,” and “reduce harmful emissions.” More precise vocabulary would help you explain the effects of biodiversity loss and pollution without relying on repeated general terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex sentence forms, including “While the other people say…” and the conditional example beginning “if animals like butterflies and bees…”. However, these attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “The animals and plants are also participate” has an incorrect verb construction, while “the plants are loss” uses the wrong verb form. There are also problems with agreement and sentence structure in “The climate change and environment pollution is more important…”. Practise forming complete clauses with accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms. For instance, write “Animals and plants also participate in the environment” and “Climate change and pollution are important environmental issues.”
