Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people often indicate the loss of particular animals and species of plants are our main environmental problem. While other say that, there are many more important environmental problems. In my opinion, both of the facts have similar impact in our environment.
The loss of specific plants and animals can break the ecological balance of the earth which later cause the environmental problems. The earth creates balance through a continuous cycle of habitants feeding on other habitants or plants. For example, crow is now on the verge of extinction. But it plays an important role in our environment, like it eats garbages and make our environment clean. Likewise, some species of plants also plays a vital role in our environment such as, rubber trees. Some rubber trees need forty years or more to produce good amount of rubbers but due to deforestation we are losing its exsistance.
Now this deforestation is one the problems that causes environmental imbalance. Man made problems are the main cause of everything. For example, man are cutting down trees for housing and industrialization which make the natural disasters more dangerous. LIke drought, flood and forest fires etc. Mainly, these cause the animals and plants to disappear. Another reason is global warming which is melting the ice and raising our sea level. This is not only effecting animals and plants but also humans themselves.
In summary both plays important role in creating environment problems. W

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views by discussing species loss and wider problems such as deforestation and global warming, and you give a position: “both of the facts have similar impact.” The examples of crows and rubber trees also show an attempt to support your points. However, the comparison between the two views is not fully developed, and the conclusion is incomplete (“In summary both plays important role… W”), so your final opinion is not clearly restated. Some claims, such as the crow being near extinction and rubber trees taking forty years to produce rubber, need clearer explanation or support. The response is also 11 words below the required minimum. Develop each side with a specific explanation and finish with a complete, direct conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and an attempted summary. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Likewise,” and “Another reason” help signal examples and additions. However, progression between the two views is not always clear: the second body paragraph moves from deforestation to natural disasters and then global warming without showing how these points compare with species loss. Some connections are also awkward or unclear, including “Now this deforestation is one the problems” and “Mainly, these cause the animals and plants to disappear.” The unfinished final sentence disrupts the overall flow. Organise each paragraph around one main point, use clearer references, and complete the conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant environmental vocabulary, including “ecological balance,” “deforestation,” “global warming,” and “sea level,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “on the verge of extinction.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “habitants feeding on other habitants” is unclear, “make our environment clean” is imprecise, and “produce good amount of rubbers” is unnatural. Spelling errors such as “exsistance” and “LIke” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range of topic vocabulary and check common word partnerships; for example, use “organisms,” “maintain a clean environment,” and “rubber” as an uncountable material.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which later cause the environmental problems” and a contrast structure beginning “While other say…”. However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include subject–verb agreement (“other say,” “both plays”), missing or incorrect articles and prepositions (“one the problems”), and faulty verb forms (“which make the natural disasters more dangerous,” “This is not only effecting…”). The opening fragment beginning “While” is not joined effectively to the preceding sentence, and punctuation around examples is inconsistent. Practise checking agreement, sentence boundaries, and verb forms, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and main verb.
