Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people think that the fictional violence portrayed on television is harmless entertainment. Others disagree and think that it encourages violent behaviour, both individuals have their own percpectives with respect to the environment and behaviour they grew in.

Most of the fiction is mainly made on the societies situation. The fiction had both negative and positive impacts. Some of the positive impacts are as follows, the main impact is that it let people to take a minute and do overreview on themselves and the society. It let people to change themselves with respect to the habits they grew with.Another impact is that, it gives valuable lessons to young ones.

The negative impact is that several youngsters are in the fiction in todays world. These youngsters aged between 14 to 19. These ages are their growing and learning period in which they can get influence what they consume. Therefore, watching violent fiction can influence them and they can adapt the fiction violence in themselves leading to disadvantages in the society. For example, the fictional book Haunting Adenaline is mostly based on the violence. Many teens under 18 age started admiring their characters and they have imagined them in their situation which is dangerous.Due to these, if these toxic behavior are around themselves they romanticize them which is unhealthy.

To sum up, I disagree with the people who think that violent fictional behaviour is potrayed on telvsion is harmless and it does impact on the society especially on the youngest generation because they are our future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear opinion in the conclusion, disagreeing that fictional violence is harmless, and you explain a relevant concern about teenagers copying or romanticising violent characters. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the harmless-entertainment side is not properly explained: the points about self-reflection and lessons for young people are general benefits of fiction, rather than reasons violent fiction may be harmless. Your example about the book and its teenage readers supports your concern, but the ideas overall remain limited and under-developed. The response is also 231 words, below the 250-word minimum; 22 words copied from the task prompt are excluded from this count. Develop both viewpoints with specific reasoning and examples, and extend the response to meet the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting benefits, a paragraph on possible harm, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main stages of your answer. Some progression is also signalled by phrases such as “The negative impact” and “To sum up.” However, the ideas within paragraphs do not always connect clearly, and the first body paragraph does not establish how its general benefits relate to the question of violent television. Linking is sometimes mechanical, as in “Another impact” and “Therefore,” while the opening sentence joins two complete ideas with only a comma. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to the relevant viewpoint, and make references such as “these” more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “violent behaviour,” “influence,” “admiring their characters,” and “romanticize,” which helps communicate your concern about young viewers. There is also an attempt to use more specific language in the example about teenagers and fictional characters. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning less natural, such as “percpectives,” “overreview,” “fictional violence” being described as “in themselves,” and “toxic behavior are around themselves.” Repetition of “impact,” “fiction,” and “youngsters” also limits precision. Aim for accurate collocations and a wider range of terms for effects, audiences, and media, checking spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure with “Therefore” and a conditional idea beginning “if these toxic behavior are around themselves.” These attempts show some range, but complex sentences are often not controlled accurately, and errors can make the reader pause. For example, the opening joins two independent clauses with a comma, “the fiction had both negative and positive impacts” shifts tense without a clear reason, and “These ages are their growing and learning period” has problems with agreement and sentence structure. There are also missing or awkward articles and punctuation, including the run-on spacing around “dangerous.Due.” Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, and check agreement, tense consistency, and sentence boundaries.
