Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, television programmes and films frequently include scenes of fictional voilence. Some people take it as an entertainment while some others believe that it can negatively influence viewers' behavior. Both of the perspectives hold their arguments. In my opinion, although fictional violence can be entertaining, excessive exposure to it may have harmful effects particularly on young viewers.

People who beleive that it is a harmless entertainment, enjoys it.They don't think that this would cause any problem. The main thing is to distinguish between real and fictional scenes. For example; there are many voilent scenes in action movies as well as in dramas. But some people like to watch fictional scenes, they don't take it serious and just enjoy the moment with popcorn.Futhermore, such programmes allow people to relax and temporarily escape from their daily responsibilities. Therefore, it would be unfair to suggest that everyone who watches voilent entertainment would develop aggressive behaviour.

On the other hand, people who believe that fictional voilence influence aggressive behaviour. This is particularly concerning when children and teenagers watch such content without proper guidance. They may begin to consider aggressive behaviour acceptable or normalize the attitudes of fictional characters. As a result, children have negative effects. Parents should be careful about the content their children are consuming.

In conclusion, although fictional violence can provide harmless entertainment but more exposure to it can cause negative impacts on society. There should be proper counselling of children for watching such content.Once a philospher said;"Excess of everything is bad."

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a clear overall position: fictional violence can entertain, but excessive exposure may harm young viewers. The examples of action films and children potentially normalising aggression are relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the harmless-entertainment argument is explained with relaxation and escape, while the harmful-effects argument is asserted more than demonstrated. The phrase “As a result, children have negative effects” is vague, and the conclusion adds little beyond repeating the position. The response is also three words below the required minimum. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms or consequences more precisely and include a specific supporting example for each view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “People who believe that fictional violence influence aggressive behaviour” is not followed by a fully developed explanation, and “As a result” introduces a vague consequence. The first body paragraph also shifts quickly from distinguishing fiction from reality to relaxation without showing how the ideas relate. Improve progression by linking each claim to its explanation and example, and use clearer referencing so that pronouns and phrases such as “this” have an unmistakable meaning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “fictional violence,” “aggressive behaviour,” “exposure,” and “daily responsibilities.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “temporarily escape” and “proper guidance.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word combinations are noticeable: “voilence,” “beleive,” “voilent,” and “Futhermore” recur or appear alongside phrases such as “take it as an entertainment” and “children have negative effects.” These choices sometimes make the meaning less precise, even though the general message remains understandable. Check spelling carefully and build a wider range of accurate collocations for discussing media influence, such as “normalise aggression” or “exposure to violent content.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession in “although fictional violence can be entertaining” and a conditional idea about children watching content without guidance. Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation are frequent enough to affect fluency. For example, “People who … enjoys it” has subject–verb disagreement, while “although … but” in the conclusion combines two incompatible structures. The sentence beginning “On the other hand, people who believe…” is a fragment, and several commas are missing after introductory phrases. Practise building complete clauses, checking that subjects and verbs agree, and using either “although” or “but,” not both in the same construction.
