Student answer (Band 6.5)

Few individuals believe the imaginative violence showcased on television is entertainment without any negative impact while, others argue that it has several adverse effects on mind of person on prefer to watch that performance. Both statements have valid reasons to justify the viewpoint. My opinion and explanation related to this topic is explained further.

There are several reasons which proves that animation violence is not harmful. The foremost reasons is that every age group of people feel relaxed after watching that type of show. When people watch cartoons or movies on mass media which have some violence activity done in videos, they feel more energetic and gets sometimes motivation also. For instance, movie related to protest and riots and how police and defence force help to control situation helps to provide historical insights, enthusiasm and inspiration among citizens.

In contrast with that, there are many factors which justifies that it directly makes negative impact on individual mindset. One of the main reasons is that people become less sympathetic and develops carefree nature. Because individuals not left with any feelings so they do not care how people around them will feel after their act or what consequences their own country or world will have to face after their actions performed. For example, series having violence or breaking laws movement in it will ultimately give rise to mindset to do harm to others or their near and dear ones.

In conclusion and to provide my opinion, violence activity shown will have somewhat positive impact like through its people will feel motivated and enthusiastic. However, it had many wrong impacts too on the behaviour of people like individuals will become aggressive and stubborn in nature. In my viewpoint, government should have control towards video produced and shown on mass media so that any negative consequences individual not have to face.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument that violence provides 'historical insights' is a bit tenuous and lacks specific, well-explained examples. The ideas are relevant, but the support provided is often generic. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more concrete reasoning or specific real-world examples that directly link to the psychological impact of media violence. The position is consistent, but the depth of analysis is limited.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. There is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In contrast with that' or 'In conclusion and to provide my opinion'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'that type of show' which lacks a strong antecedent. While the structure is coherent, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'animation violence' instead of 'fictional violence' or 'violence activity'. You rely on basic descriptors like 'wrong impacts' and 'carefree nature', which do not fully capture the nuance of the topic. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is a lack of sophisticated or idiomatic expressions that would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The foremost reasons is'), missing articles (e.g., 'on mind of person'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'any negative consequences individual not have to face'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for small errors like missing prepositions and incorrect verb forms.
