Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both views and provide an opinion, the final paragraph is incomplete, leaving the argument unfinished. The ideas presented, such as the notion that violent media helps people cope with stress, are somewhat underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence. To improve, you must ensure you complete the essay structure and provide fully extended arguments for each perspective. The failure to finish the response prevents a higher score as the task is not fully addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization with an introduction and body paragraphs. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the final paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However' and 'Consequently', but they are sometimes used mechanically or with grammatical errors (e.g., 'But in my opinion...'). Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending makes the overall structure feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, completed logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'physical debate' instead of 'physical conflict' or 'spectate that kinds of program' instead of 'watch these types of programs'. The repetition of words like 'entertain' and 'violence' limits the lexical variety. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary and focus on learning common collocations rather than individual words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the program on TV with violence scene entertain the spectators' (subject-verb agreement and article usage) and 'foster of some social crimes' (incorrect noun phrase construction). There is a limited range of complex sentence structures, and those attempted often contain errors. Punctuation is generally functional, but the overall control of grammar is inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, article usage, and the correct formation of complex sentences.
