Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth, relying on vague anecdotes rather than well-reasoned points. For instance, the example of a person watching romantic movies versus violent ones is not clearly linked to the broader societal impact of media violence. The conclusion is also quite weak, merely restating the prompt rather than summarising the main points or reinforcing the writer's position. To improve, you should provide more specific, analytical examples and ensure your opinion is clearly integrated throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of effective cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are frequently missing or mechanical, such as 'Starting of with' and 'Coming onto'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of ideas. For example, the sentence 'all are onto it and it create hype' is vague and lacks a clear antecedent. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the internal structure of the paragraphs is disjointed, which impacts the overall readability and coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to express complex ideas. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'wrong massage' (likely meant 'message'), 'its just make for entertainment purpose', and 'people mood'. The range of vocabulary is basic, and the student struggles to use less common items accurately. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to media and psychology, and work on using more precise terminology to convey your arguments more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('people does affect', 'it create hype'), tense consistency, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, such as 'For example there was a person who has seen the movie which was very famous at that time and after watching it his social media was full of clips of that movie which makes his remember and affect his mind'. The range of structures is limited, with a heavy reliance on simple sentences. Improving your control over basic grammar and punctuation is essential for clarity.
