Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 208 words long and ends abruptly mid-sentence. While you have attempted to address both sides of the argument and provide an opinion, the development of ideas is significantly hindered by the lack of length. The arguments provided are repetitive and lack specific, well-developed examples. To improve, you must ensure that each body paragraph provides a clear, supported argument and that the essay is completed in full. The current structure is incomplete, which prevents a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with' and 'On the other side', which helps with the overall flow. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is cut off, which disrupts the logical structure of the essay. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between sentences can feel mechanical. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details that lead naturally to the next point.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several spelling errors, such as 'televion' instead of 'television', 'sourse' for 'source', 'manupulate' for 'manipulate', and 'reallife'. These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the reader's understanding. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'contemporary era' and 'subconsciously', the range is not sufficient to demonstrate flexibility. To achieve a higher band score, you should focus on accurate spelling and expanding your range of vocabulary to include more precise collocations and academic terminology relevant to the topic of media and behavior.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues such as 'Few people believes' and 'there are certain people thinks'. Sentence structures are generally simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and incorrect capitalization. These errors occur frequently and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. To improve, you should practice using a mix of complex and compound sentences and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules, particularly verb conjugation and sentence boundaries.
