Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the discussion. While the main ideas are relevant, they are not fully developed; for example, the point about 'young immature people' could have been supported with a specific example or a more detailed explanation of the psychological impact. Because the response is under-length, it fails to meet the requirements of the task fully, resulting in a lower score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices, such as 'Apparently' and 'In Conclusion'. However, the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical, and the flow within paragraphs is slightly disjointed. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure lacks the sophisticated linking required for higher bands. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the brevity of the content makes the logical progression feel somewhat thin.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. Phrases like 'fake violence' and 'not a harmful entertainment' are somewhat simplistic. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'conflict resolution' and 'scripted media', but these are limited. The repetition of words like 'television' and 'violence' indicates a restricted range. To improve, you should focus on using more precise synonyms and collocations to express your ideas more naturally and effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, though the control over these is inconsistent. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'most time they enjoy' (should be 'most of the time') and 'mature views' (should be 'mature viewers'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and inconsistent capitalization (e.g., 'Anger', 'Tears'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the overall clarity and professional tone of the writing.
